I’ve been loving the name [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] recently but I’m not sure it really fits the style of my other favorites. [name_f]My[/name_f] current other favorite girl names are
I wouldn’t use [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] personally because it seems more like a nickname than a full name to me, but I like it for other people.
I think [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] goes well with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f], not so much with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], although both [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] & [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] and [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] & [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] would be nice together. I don’t [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] goes with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] at all, they’re just too similar.
[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] gives me a kind of hippie vibe and a nickname vibe as I said. Also I don’t know anyone with that name so the first thing I think of is the film When [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] Was There
Some other names: [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_u]Holly[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_u]Aria[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Erin[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
For middle names I would say anything classic with 3-4 syllables starting with a consonant, I quite like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].
[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] doesn’t perfectly match your other choices but it’s not outlandish. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] don’t feel at odds.
[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] has a warm kind of feel - a little laid back, a little tomboyish but sweet
Some siblings for [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]: [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_u]Billie[/name_u], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_u]Rue[/name_u], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_u]Willow[/name_u], [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
I think that while [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] does fit the style of your other names, it’s just that it feels somewhat incomplete next to the others, due to [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] feeling like a diminutive, while the others feel ‘full and finished’. That said, I don’t see why [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] couldn’t work well in a sibset with any of the other names. It fits.
[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] feels ‘vintage-byname feeling fresh again with modern use’, in line with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] works well as a combo, if [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] isn’t strictly being felt as a first.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] as a note, because I do THINK of this when I see [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], even though it doesn’t taint the name for me:
The website Awkward Family Photos published a Thanksgiving letter one year from a woman named [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] to her family, giving absurd and over-the-top directions for how to bring the food she required of them for the holiday. It went viral. The re-published it every year, and then found the real [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], and had an awkward and hilarious video interview with her. You can easily find it. I don’t know just how popular or recognizable of an association that is (for my family, it’s a funny tradition to revisit it every year), but it might be one I would’ve wanted to be aware of if I were considering the name for a daughter. To be fair, I don’t think her REAL name is [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]. I think they used that to give her some privacy.
Thanks!! I forgot about [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] would be such a cute sister set!! I also love [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]
i think [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] does fit the style of your other names. they all have a sort of a cozy, vintage flair to them that makes it work. i used to love [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] a lot, i had the combo [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] [name_u]Rue[/name_u]!
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] is gorgeous other ideas…
i think marnie would go well with eloise and flora – margot & marnie as sisters seem a little too similar, and beatrix and isadora seem too heavy and long for the light, nickname-y marnie.
the first thing that comes to mind is vintage nickname! it makes me think of afternoon tea and skipping rocks on the lake.
