Our third child is due in a little more than a month and we have chosen not to know the gender ahead of time. I was featured in the Name [name_u]Sage[/name_u] article last week and we had many people saying our choice for a girl’s name ([name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]) was too plain with our sons’ names. We have been throwing some names around and have come up with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. [name_m]How[/name_m] does this sound to you? Does [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] overwhelm the name [name_f]Mary[/name_f]? All opinions are so appreciated! Thank you!

I think that [name_f]Mary[/name_f] fits nicely with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] and honestly as mn are rarely used I don’t see why [name_f]Grace[/name_f] needs to be as “interesting” as [name_m]Hiram[/name_m] or [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]… I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is lovely.
However I can see how [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] could feel more adventurous. I think it too is a lovely choice. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

My name is [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], so I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. I think that [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is also very pretty. I don’t think that [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] overwhelms [name_f]Mary[/name_f], I think that they sound perfect together.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] definitely sounds a lot more ‘[name_m]Walton[/name_m]’ than [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. I think you’ll find that pairing pretty much any one syllable name with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. Although the end of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] does run into [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] somewhat, I’m not sure that really bugs me.
But if the middle name of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has significant meaning for you then don’t be put off by people claiming that they find it a bit blah. Here on nameberry people are looking for the perfect flow of the combo and it necessarily thinking about what a name means to someone (though we have a lot of time for that as well).
I love the meaning of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] in both a [name_m]Christian[/name_m] and a secular sense so for me it’s not just a filler name. If you’re concerned about aesthetics maybe another middle before [name_f]Grace[/name_f]?

I prefer [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. It has more substance [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I automatically go to the movie [name_f]Maria[/name_f] full of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but I think its only because I’ve recently watched it. I think if [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has meaning to you, use [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. The opinions of the online community will be nothing compared to something that means something to you. If you are dead-set on changing it though, [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is very pretty too.

I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is all kinds of awesome. I’d choose that over [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (although it’s also a nice name).
