We have several other names on the list, but this week DH and I are both loving [name]Penelope[/name]. [name]Mary[/name] is a great way to cover many family members, as both of our mothers and my Grandmother are [name]Mary[/name]-somethings.
[name]One[/name] reservation: We’ll probably call her [name]Penelope[/name]. I’m a middle-namer and I don’t like it. Its not the end of the world, but its tiring in the professional world to explain over and over why coworkers need to email Rp*****@… instead of Jp*****@…
And the doctor’s office… :eye roll:
I’ve always sworn I would never do that to a child, but in reality its not THAT BAD, just an inconvenience.
I also really like [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. I think my family would accept that as a suitable version of [name]Marie[/name], and my sister’s mn is [name]Marie[/name].
Initials will be either MPP or PMP… problematic?
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Penelope[/name] is a lovely combination and fits very well with [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], so think you should use it! Many people use mns or nns so I don’t think the matching up is that big of a deal. [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Zoe[/name] do sound kind of similar though, so I’d probably use a nn like [name]Penny[/name] or [name]Nell[/name].
Is there a reason you can’t use [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Mary[/name]? I don’t think it’s a big deal. My dad has gone by his middle name his entire life with no problems. Most people don’t even know he goes by his middle name.
I go by my middle name… actually it’s a Mc name, and I drop the Mc, so it is part of my middle name.
Yes, there were some cruel kids in school who wanted to poke fun at my first name when they learned it, but they probably did the same when they learned others’ middles.
And the doctor can be annoying but it is really not that bad.
To add to the confusion, I kept my maiden name as my professional name, so sometimes when I make a phone call I have to remember if it is to a doc, bill, etc. because it is an entirely different name.
I like both [name]Mary[/name] [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. Either would be great.
I think either way works! They both flow nicely. As for mn as a fn, it’s actually quite popular! I never realized it until one day in highschool a bunch of us were talking about names and I found out that quite a few we’re actually using their middle names! Who knew lol
