Thoughts on Monroe?

Heard this name today. I think it’s pretty cute! I like unusual names. I’m happy with the [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] association. I think it’s a strong name for a girl. What’s your opinion? Or if you have any suggestions of similar names. Thanks xx

I love [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] (they are so similar to me). There’s a character on Grimm named [name_u]Monroe[/name_u], though it’s a male character, and it’s so dashing. I think it would be cute on a girl, too.

[name_u]Monroe[/name_u] is really cute, some other surnames you may like:

I don’t like [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] at all. It’s the last name of a movie star, a US president, many cities all over the USA. I think the name only became popular because of [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] and her rock ’ roll kids…[name_u]Moroccan[/name_u] 'n [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]. It feels very trendy to me akin to [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_u]Carter[/name_u] and all the other ex-president names used for girls these days. They soon become so dated…

I have a friend who named her baby [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] just a few weeks ago and I can’t tell you how hard I had to pretend to like it. Hate would be an understatement to explain my feelings about [name_u]Monroe[/name_u].

It is pretty on paper, I’ll give it that, but actually saying it out loud and calling someone it is totally different. Maybe it’s where we live, maybe it’s our accent, but it’s sounds so nasally and and a cross between MUN-ro and [name_u]MIN[/name_u]-ro that it’s awful.

I actually [name_f]DO[/name_f] like it as a middle name, weirdly enough. I think it flows nicely and sounds more like a double barrel last name which is probably why I don’t mind it. I think something like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] or [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] for example is fine.

I love it. It is always on my list. It adds to the popular “O” endings. (Which I happen to love and think there should be more of)

I really dislike it. That said, the surname trend is generally NMS and I wouldn’t want the [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] association. We might just have different tastes.
