This name has been growing on me recently, but I’m not sure if it is a little too “out-there” for me. I always love getting [name]Berry[/name] feedback on names and I would be interested to know what you think of [name]Mordecai[/name]. Is it wearable? What kind of boy/man do you picture? I would probably use the nn [name]Cai[/name]/[name]Kai[/name].
It’s mentioned in Dr. Seuss’s Oh the Places You’ll Go: (just from memory, so pardon any errors) “So be your name Buxom or Bixby or [name]Bray[/name] or [name]Mordecai[/name] [name]Allen[/name] [name]Van[/name] [name]Alli[/name] O’[name]Shay[/name] . . . .” I like the nn [name]Cai[/name], but I don’t see [name]Mordecai[/name] being all that usable.
[name]Mordecai[/name] is a seriously cool name. It’s one name that could actually bend my no names from religious scriptures rule. It brings to mind leather wearing chain smoking sexy dark haired men with sunglasses and ponytails and earrings and tattoos who gulps down whiskey like water. On a motorbike. Someone really masculine and rough.
I love, love, love [name]Mordecai[/name]! It’s so quirky and unusual. I picture [name]Mordecai[/name]/[name]Cai[/name] as someone dark and introverted, but really deep and a good friend when you get to know him. Plus, [name]Cai[/name] is sweet is his full name is ever too heavy for a certain stage in his life.
Once, I knew someone who called their son “[name]Mordy[/name]”.
My sister has a friend with 3 children , 1 is called [name]Mordecai[/name]. When they talk about them or I’ve been at a bbq and he has been there I have just thought “that’s a cool, interesting name” really cute kid, suited him. I also thought “way to go” to his parents for not worrying about the name and trusting it would be a good choice
I think [name]Mordecai[/name] is really cool. It isn’t any less wearable than [name]Malachi[/name] (which was at #164 as of 2011), and the possible nickname of [name]Cai[/name] does make it more kid friendly. [name]Mordecai[/name] would be a solid, unusual choice.
Really, really like this name - it was the name of a great baseball pitcher "[name]Mordecai[/name] ‘Three-Finger’ [name]Brown[/name] who lost some fingers in a farming accident but went on to be one of the best pitchers of the early 20th century. Kind of a tragic story but, for me at least, adds to the intruige of this name. Cool choice.
I actually like [name]Mordecai[/name] better than [name]Malachi[/name].
I say use it.
Then again, im running into the same problem: I love [name]Lazarus[/name] but dont know if im brave enough.
I think it’s a pretty cool one. My son is actually obsessed with this name after accidentally watching a Cartoon Network show with a character on it… He tries to name everything [name]Mordecai[/name] right now, haha. (The cartoon is called “Regular Show” and it’s actually pretty funny, but not child appropriate.) [name]Cai[/name]/[name]Kai[/name] is a great nn that makes it very accessible if you ask me, and will come in handy especially when he’s learning to spell, lol. Thumbs up from me and my 3 yr old. =]
The only [name]Mordecai[/name] I’ve heard of is the wonderful author [name]Mordecai[/name] Richler. [name]Cai[/name] as a nn makes it more modern. Like.
