I’m finally coming out of my name rut! And boy, does it feel good! does a little victory dance
I would very much appreciate your thoughts on my current list, it’s a little longer than my usual lists, but having just come out of my name rut, I’m finding it hard to narrow down.
You have some nice names! my least favourites are [name]August[/name], [name]Dexter[/name] and [name]Percy[/name] but the rest are good, i don’t like Arlo or Ezra much but they are ok. Only thing is do you think that some of these names might not go down well where you live? I have a friend from new zealand and she wanted to name her daughter something slightly ‘posh’ too but when she told everyone they told her that it was too pretencious and would stand out.
btw i think the links aren’t working…
these would be good
Jasper
Felix
Henry
Hugo
Oliver
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Barnaby[/name] [name]Finch[/name] is so so endearingly nerdy yet sturdy. I just love it!
I might do [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Malachi[/name] [name]William[/name], since [name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Malachi[/name] have some of the same mystical/Biblical feeling, and [name]William[/name] has such a clean, sloping sense of containment.
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] is handsome as all get-out. [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] [name]Roland[/name]? [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] [name]Lionel[/name]? [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] [name]Gawain[/name]?
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Rafferty[/name] [name]James[/name] is very jaunty and devilish!
I love:
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Barnaby[/name] [name]Finch[/name] - Ugh this name is just fantastic!
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] - Handsome.
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Rafferty[/name] [name]James[/name]
I like:
[name]August[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Grey[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name] [name]Hartley[/name] [name]Fox[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name] [name]Britton[/name] - Feels really British, but I like it! [name]Hugo[/name] is love.
[name]Percy[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Otto[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Percy[/name] and it’s nice with [name]Alexander[/name]. I’m not completely sold on [name]Otto[/name], but the combo is nice.
Thank you emmabobemma and dainetea! I think you are the first two to give such positive feedback on [name]Dexter[/name] [name]Barnaby[/name] [name]Finch[/name], [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] [name]Rafferty[/name] [name]James[/name]!
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] [name]Roland[/name] is handsome! I want to like [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] [name]Gawain[/name] also, but I’m not sure how [name]Gawain[/name] is pronounced…
[name]Hugo[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Britton[/name], [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Charles[/name] [name]Britton[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name] [name]Louis[/name] are all dashing.
I’m really really impressed with your list! You have such a sophisticated and strong style. You make a lot of names I normally dislike sound incredible!
I like your naming style. An interesting mixture of ‘royal’ name combinations with some more ‘casual/friendly’ ones, but pretty much all really solid.
[name]August[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Grey[/name]- I like this one quite a bit. As I said in your other post, I actually like the flow of [name]Augustus[/name] better with these middle names, but this one also works really well. Usually I’m not a big fan of [name]Grey[/name] (feels a bit depressing to me as a name, I mean what more depressing color is there they grey), but in this particular combination [name]Grey[/name] takes on a new tone to me and sounds much better.
[name]Edmund[/name] [name]Hartley[/name] [name]Fox[/name]- [name]Edmund[/name] is cool (I’ve really come to appreciate a lot of the ‘[name]Ed[/name]’ names). [name]Hartley[/name] is really really cool (especially because I really respect the director/producer/script writer/movie musician/cinematographer [name]Hal[/name] [name]Hartley[/name]). And [name]Fox[/name] makes for a good combination. I don’t think I would like [name]Fox[/name] as a stand-alone middle name, but in a double middle name set I think it works really well.
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Barnaby[/name] [name]Finch[/name]- I do really like the name [name]Dexter[/name] in theory, but for me the connection to the television show [name]Dexter[/name] is just so strong for me (and I know would be for a lot of others, I mean he’s not just a character in the show, he is the show, and the show’s name is his name). I had to think quite a bit before deciding if I liked [name]Barnaby[/name] or not, but I do. It bounces off the tongue really well and does have a friendly vibe to it. And [name]Barnaby[/name] and [name]Finch[/name] go together really really well.
[name]Jasper[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Malachi[/name]- [name]Jasper[/name] has made it into my own top 4, so it’s easy for me to say I really like this one. However, I don’t know if I like the way that [name]William[/name] and [name]Malachi[/name] work together. Something like [name]Jasper[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Finch[/name] or [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Fox[/name] sound better to me. [name]William[/name] and [name]Malachi[/name] are just too must of a mouthful together, and they feel so significantly different to me.
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Rafferty[/name] [name]James[/name]- I like this. [name]Felix[/name] and [name]James[/name] both feel a bit formal, but in a fun/friendly way, whereas [name]Rafferty[/name] feels more fun/friendly but with just a hint of formality that makes it work together well in the mix. Whole name works together really well.
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]- Solid. A noble sounding chap.
[name]Hugo[/name] [name]Britton[/name]- [name]Hugo[/name] is great (I considered it for a bit of time). [name]Britton[/name] doesn’t feel like a name to me, just feels like the name of someone from [name]Britain[/name].
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] [name]George[/name] - [name]Arlo[/name] is great. Feels friendly. A bit of a southern (US) sound to it. Perhaps it doesn’t match up with the more European royalty feel of [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]George[/name]. [name]Frederick[/name] is an alright name, I like it as a middle name but not as a first name. [name]George[/name] has always sounded strange to me, never really been the fan of it despite it’s history.
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Cedric[/name]- [name]Cedric[/name] goes together with [name]Oliver[/name] really well. [name]Oliver[/name] is one of those names that seems to be enhanced greatly by the right kind of middle name match-up. [name]Both[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Cedric[/name] are solid names. I think [name]Cedric[/name] could also make a really great first name, with a different middle name combination.
[name]Ezra[/name] [name]Phinnaeus[/name]- I like the name [name]Ezra[/name] quite a bit, and I like the name [name]Phinnaeus[/name] quite a bit. But for some reason this combination doesn’t feel quite right together, but I can’t quite define why.
[name]Percy[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Otto[/name]- I think I’d prefer [name]Percy[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Otto[/name] or maybe maybe [name]Otto[/name] [name]Percy[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. Though I feel like [name]Alexander[/name] in the middle name slot works better on it’s own (or maybe with a very short/quick 1-syllable name like [name]Fox[/name] or [name]Brandt[/name])
[name]Rupert[/name]- I’m not such a fan of this name. I don’t know why, but [name]Rupert[/name] and [name]George[/name] both have some sort of sound to them that just make me subtly cringe.
Wow! That’s such a lovely compliment [name]Alyssa[/name]! <3
I really like Percy Alexander Dante, Percy Alexander Klaus and Percy Alexander Kit, but, at least for now, Percy Alexander Otto is here to stay. I also adore Henry Theodore Knight, Ezra Phinnaeus Rowan and Ezra Phinnaeus Soren. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for the extensive feedback javad! I also agree that Cedric would be great in the first name spot and it used to be on my list as just that, but I could never find middles that I loved with it. Though I was in love with Cedric Arthur Lewis for quite some time. I also feel the same way about Ezra Phinnaeus…I am now considering Ezra Benedict.
