What do you think of my current shortlist for changing my name? My last name is (edited for privacy) and middle name will (probably) be [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], or [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. I will go by my nickname most of the time if the name I go with has a nickname I want to use (those are all listed). I am very quiet, sweet, very very very shy, very very very soft-spoken, despise confrontation and conflict, not a huge fan of people, definitely a homebody. I love books, kids, animals (cats especially), and watching tv. I’m very pale, I have light brown hair, and huge eyes (they change colour, but the colours they change to are blue, green, grey, and hazel - most of the time all of these are in my eyes somewhere)… I don’t know how else to describe myself, lol. My current name is (edited for privacy). I was born in 2000, not sure if that’s relevant or not.

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]!! (Swoooonn) I have never thought of these as a combo but now I’m in love. It’s just so soft, so delicate. It makes me think of the sweetest girl, dark wavy hair, wearing pearls and laces, playing music or dancing. This​ one is my favourite. :slight_smile:

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f], sophisticated, elegant. I really like it.

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is another thing I’ve never thought of, but I guess it can work. I have [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] somewhere on my long list but also don’t like the nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. I’ve thought of [name_f]Aura[/name_f] all this time, but now you show me another possibility.

[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is another beauty, but I am not sure how much I love [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] -at least they don’t give me the same excitement I have when I think of [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as a combo. [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is my top choice for a girl, so that maybe makes me much pickier about her, if that makes sense.

[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] is another that I really like for you (I’ve mentioned this before -I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/[name_f]Ana[/name_f] names suit you a lot). Maybe [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. :slight_smile:

I love [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] but I am tentative about you achieving your desired nickname [name_f]Ana[/name_f] with it. I don’t want to be negative- sorry.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] -is beautiful. I think it comes down to which short name you like best . [name_f]Sera[/name_f] is lovely too.
Mmm it’s a lovely list - [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have to try them more for size / feel ?- I am so pleased you are making progress.

I like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]! I’ve never seen [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] before, but I think it’s cute and makes sense, because of the “ro” and how it makes me think of an actual aurora, which can be red, and also because it’s the Latin word for dawn. [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] does have a few spelling variations, so you may have to spell it out for a lot of people, though I’m not sure if that would bother you or not. If you use [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as the middle name for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] or [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], you could potentially use AJ as a nickname if you wanted to. I think my favorite combo out of the names you listed would be [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but of course it’s your name and your decision! I know firsthand what it’s like to go through the process of choosing a new name for yourself, so I wish you luck. :slight_smile:

These are all really great, though I’m honestly not that big of a fan of [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], or on a girl, period. But [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is cute. Have you thought about [name_f]Ora[/name_f] or [name_f]Aura[/name_f]?

Out of the choices, my favorites (nn included) would be [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f].

I don’t play music or dance, though, lol. Yeah, I’m not big on [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. Plus, now all I can think of is [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls and all of the people I hang out would, too, so they’d probably think I named myself after her. I much prefer [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (it was the first combo when I started thinking more seriously about this that I came up with) to [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I would go with [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], just because [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] both have the soft ‘j’ sound in the beginning. I would be going by my nn most of the time, so a lot of people (that I don’t currently know, but would meet after changing my name) probably wouldn’t even know that my name was [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] for a while. I’m not sure why, I just really want a long, full name that I would hardly use, with a nn that I would go by. I know it doesn’t make sense, but that’s what I want. Again, not sure why… No, no you don’t seem negative! [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you did, I asked for opinions, I’m glad I’m getting some :slight_smile: I do need to start trying out the different names, I just have no idea where. Yes, that was my reasoning behind the [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] nn, plus [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] in Sleeping Beauty goes by [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] most of her life, until she finds out she’s a princess (I’ve seen that movie far too many times). It would kind of bother me with the having to spell [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] for people (I have to do that sooo much with my current name), but whatever spelling variation I went with I would have to do that. Plus, like I mentioned above, I’d mostly be going by my nickname, anyways, and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is easy to spell. Only one other way to spell it. I really like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] also, I just wasn’t sure if it was too ‘r’ heavy or not. Would you mind private messaging more about the name changing process? Finding info about it online is a nightmare and I’d love to talk to someone who’s actually done it, if you don’t mind. Thank you, again, so much!

@redrobin I’m not a big fan of [name_u]Rory[/name_u], either, it’s just on the nn option list because it’s the most intuitive. I have thought about [name_f]Ora[/name_f]/[name_f]Aura[/name_f], but I wouldn’t go with it for a couple of reasons. First, because of the whole “cleansing your aura” thing creeps me out (I don’t mean that to offend anyone, just my personal opinion), and two, because it just kind of gets caught in your mouth, if that makes any sense. Haha it doesn’t matter. A combo can have many different imagery. I can easily imagine [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] as a writer or volleyball player or a photographer too. Or anything, really. :slight_smile: I don’t watch [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls so I didn’t make the connection, I can see your concern though. For me it’s just because I don’t find [name_u]Rory[/name_u] appealing. You make the connection between [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and I am just like “wow, that’s cute”. I am still not sure I can have an [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], especially since I also have a [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] on my list, but I think it can work on you.
I don’t know. I love [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] a lot and I adore [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as well, but I am just not sure I like them together. They don’t roll off tongue as nicely, imo, but maybe it’s just me. Again, I am beyond picky when it comes to [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], so don’t mind me.

It seems like you prefer [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] in the middle over [name_f]Jane[/name_f] in general? :slight_smile:

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is stunning. I love [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], it has been rising on my list lately and I think how you described yourself, totally matches the personality that I imagine for an [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. I like all of the names your list, so, I don’t think you could go wrong but [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is my favourite, by far.

I understand about your liking a longer feminine name and the shorter variation. I totally agree –it’s what I like too. It felt important for me to ensure you do get positive (or constructive may be a better word) feedback -even though so many others are doing that too - about different issues. If I was not fully in favour or genuine, I would not post.
When you say you will mostly use your shorter name - I hope that wording is somewhat accurate - that prompts me to say I would try to decide which do you prefer between [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/ [name_f]Ana[/name_f] or [name_f]Sera[/name_f] etc? All your latest list names are beautiful. It may be you consider both or just focus on the main name?
Re [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]-e.g. I hear - "Oh! Your full name is [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]?- that’s gorgeous " but still I find [name_f]Anna[/name_f] flows easily from that. Same with all others but I queried [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] which is so very lovely, because once people learn [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] – yes even though they have known you as [name_f]Ana[/name_f], I would hate for them to get digressed into [name_f]Giana[/name_f] or [name_m]George[/name_m] (that you may hate) as they would ‘down here’ perhaps and lose the lovely ‘[name_f]Ana[/name_f]’. Since you are not ‘down here’ my concern may be totally unfounded.

My only suggested recommendation about hearing the name back is that often hearing it from people who don’t know you and just phone back or call out the next name gives a good authentic if less caring
feel than a friend would, to add that other dimension. I really hope you get ‘the’ one picked and used to it, so you have minimum concern when you do change. Best wishes [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].
