Thoughts on my Final Five

My husband has decided he just wants me to pick a girl name, rather than keep talking about it forever… lol. So, I think I have it narrowed down to five names, but I don’t really have anyone to talk to about them.

We have two girls currently, and aren’t finding out the sex ahead of time, but I think we are good on a boy’s name. Our two girls are [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and Marliese (mar-lease).

[name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to tell me your favorites, least favorite, any opinions (positive or negative), etc.

In no particular order:
[name_f]Helene[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
Errolyn/Erilyn

Thank you!

With [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and Marliese I like [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] the best from your list.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] feels too common and too sharp and Errolyn/Erilyn somehow feels both trendy (the lyn ending) and dated ([name_m]Errol[/name_m]), and rather made up. [name_f]Helene[/name_f] is difficult because there are so many ways of pronouncing it, and I also think it’s less striking then your daughters’ names. [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] could work but I think [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] feels pretty and unusual and sounds lovely with your daughters’ names.

[name_f]Helene[/name_f] is my favorite, followed by [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]. They’re both pretty, feminine, and somewhat unusual, which seems to fit with your other girls perfectly.

My favourites would be:

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f], Marliese and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f], Marliese and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]

I don’t like Errolyn/Erilyn.

My favorites from your list are [name_f]Helene[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Helene[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] a little more than [name_f]Violet[/name_f] simply based on the popularity of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but they are all lovely.

[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is a name that I always feel has something missing for me to really love it. I don’t know what it is but it’s just not for me.

Errolyn/Erilyn is my least favorite. I find [name_f]Helene[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] to be much prettier options

I love [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Helene[/name_f], & [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] & [name_f]Helene[/name_f] win for me because they are far less common than [name_f]Violet[/name_f].

[name_f]Lilith[/name_f] has a nice sound but it’s not something I would personally use. I dislike Errolyn/Erilyn.

[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] goes perfectly with your daughters’ names.

I like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] best with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and Marliese. In general, though, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Helene[/name_f] are my favorites. I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_f]Helene[/name_f], but prefer to say it the Scandinavian way (heh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-neh).

Errolyn/Erilyn isn’t really my thing, sorry (although I do sort of like Aralyn, which I’d say the same way? Errolyn just reminds me too much of [name_m]Errol[/name_m], which I find to be old-timey and dashing for a boy), and while I think [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] looks spunky and cool, and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f], I just can’t get past the demon-character.

I think [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] fits best in the sibset. I really like it, too:)

From your list, my favourite is [name_f]Violet[/name_f], definitely, I think it sounds vintage and spunky. My least favourite is Errolyn/Erilyn, to me it looks masculine and somewhat made up (sorry) - but that’s just me!

No need to apologize.

Errolyn is a name that I don’t love the look of, but one night my husband read it out of a baby name book, and it just struck me as sounding really pretty. I’ve always liked [name_m]Errol[/name_m], but couldn’t actually see myself using it. It doesn’t seem to be a big winner on this post anyway… lol. I was considering Erilyn because it looks nicer, but also looks more made up to me that way.

Thanks for your input.

[name_f]Helene[/name_f] fits best.

I like [name_f]Helene[/name_f] and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is cute but it’s kind of a mouthful to say unlike lily which breaks up the double L sound with the Y, [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] just adds another strong sound to the end. The name [name_f]Violet[/name_f] reminds me of Violent, but maybe that’s just because i am weird. Maybe if i knew a cute little [name_f]Violet[/name_f], it might change my mind. Errolyn/Erilyn is pretty and has a nice girly sound to it but a little different. But if you like the name, i say go for it! For the spelling, i prefer Erilyn.
Out of all the names, my least favorite is [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]. Maybe it’s just not my style but i say scratch that name…

I like [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] best, because I think it finds the line between classic [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and more unusual Marliese. [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] and [name_f]Helene[/name_f] also nice. Although I do like Erilyn I don’t think it fits very well with your other girls, and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] feels to popular.

[name_f]Helene[/name_f] would be my first pi. [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] are very nice too.

I like all of these names and think they all go well with your other daughters with the exception of Errolyn/Erilyn. My favorites are [name_f]Helene[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], I think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a little too popular compared to the other siblings names. [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] also sounds lovely with the sibling names. Also, I love your choice of Marliese for your other daughter, such pretty name!!!

I think all of them except Errolyn would work with your other girls’ lovely names. I really dislike Errolyn. It just doesn’t have the class and style of your other names.

I like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] best. While I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Helene[/name_f] it’s nice enough and workable. I much prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f]. [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is interesting and goes well with the sibs (and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is much nicer than the over-used [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]).

[name_f]Lilith[/name_f] would be my pick, with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] 2nd.

I really appreciate everyone’s feedback.

It’s funny that you brought up the [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]/Demon thing because that was one of the things that caught my eye about the name… lol. A beautiful sounding name with a crappy meaning. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] means blind, Marliese is just considered a combo of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], so [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] meaning night monster or demon fits right in. Hahahahaha!

So [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] was a top contender for our second little girl, who ended up being named [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]! [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] gets my vote in your case, hands down (but then I’m biased!). We get comments all the time on how pretty “[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]” is and so far no one has confused it with “[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]” or had pronounciation issues!

Your other options are nice, too, and I could see [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Helene[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] working with your other daughter’s names. As pp’s have noted, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is of course a lot more popular, but still a nice name, and [name_f]Helene[/name_f] could cause pronounciation issues. Good luck!
