(names with asterisks I’m currently revising and would love some ideas for other combos and such. Of course, you’re absolutely welcome to suggest other combos for the other names as well! [name]Just[/name] any feedback would be lovely, thank you!)
I also like: [name]Hope[/name], [name]Morgana[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name], [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Faith[/name], [name]Rose[/name], and [name]Victoria[/name]. I think [name]Antigone[/name], [name]Asta[/name]-[name]Skye[/name], [name]Kaya[/name]-[name]Rayne[/name], are too over the top, and most of the others I don’t care for.
Great names! very interesting, alot of these are also on my favorites lists.
[name]Antigone[/name] [name]Violet[/name] - I really love [name]Antigone[/name], the sound, look, and its rather sad but strong meaning. [name]Antigone[/name] [name]Vermilion[/name] & [name]Antigone[/name] [name]Lavinia[/name] Neeve where on my list
[name]Demetria[/name]
[name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Victoire[/name] - [name]Cecelia[/name] brings up images of windy beaches, bright flowers and freedom to me, one of my favorites.
[name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Dove[/name], [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Astrid[/name].
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Florence[/name] [name]Elisabetta[/name] - Wow i really like this combo. Very vintage and the [name]Betta[/name] ending saves it from being boring.
[name]Mercie[/name] [name]Annamarie[/name] - Spelt [name]Mercy[/name] for me
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Irene[/name] - Very strong and solid.
[name]Temperance[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name]/[name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Temperance[/name] - [name]Ah[/name] another [name]Temperance[/name] lover, Brilliant sounding word isnt it! [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Temperance[/name] rolls better, but i cant turn down a [name]Temperance[/name] in the fn place so, [name]Temperance[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] gets my vote. [name]Both[/name] names are amazing together and have the same feel.
[name]Tempest[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] - [name]Celeste[/name] is amazing, shooting stars, new plant growth, delicate things, all that comes from it.
Tenebre [name]Winter[/name] - [name]Ive[/name] never heard of Tenebre and i’ll add it to my list. Its very brooding and musical so winter fits perfectly. I prefer Ten - a - [name]Bree[/name] pronunc. tho
Thank you sol!
I love your names!
[name]Antigone[/name] [name]Lavinia[/name] Neeve is cute! I’m always searching for a middle name for [name]Antigone[/name], but can never find one. [name]Violet[/name] just popped into my head while I was writing the topic.
[name]Cecelia[/name] is one of my favourites too! I love [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Astrid[/name].
Yes, [name]Temperance[/name] is one of my absolute favourites! I agree that [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Temperance[/name] flows better, but I love [name]Temperance[/name] so much that I also can’t turn it away as a first name!
That’s also how I think of [name]Celeste[/name]! I love [name]Tempest[/name] and [name]Celeste[/name] separately, but I think they sound too similar to be a combo, I just don’t have the heart to take it off my list until I’ve found a combo for both [name]Tempest[/name] and [name]Celeste[/name]!
Yes, that’s how I think of Tenebre. I also like the Ten-a-[name]Bree[/name] pronunciation, but I prefer ten-a-bray. You can also spell it Tenebrae. I’m unsure of which spelling I prefer.
Aleithea [name]Hope[/name] - Good combo. [name]Alethea[/name] or [name]Althea[/name] seem like easier spellings.
[name]Antigone[/name] [name]Violet[/name]/[name]Violet[/name] [name]Antigone[/name] - [name]Violet[/name] [name]Antigone[/name] is nice, I guess. [name]Violet[/name] is beautiful and while I love the play [name]Antigone[/name], she’s such a tragic figure, and I don’t thin the name is really that attractive. [name]Violet[/name] [name]Antonia[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Agnes[/name], [name]Violet[/name] Agnetha, [name]Violet[/name] [name]Alethea[/name]?
[name]Ariana[/name] [name]Demetria[/name]* - too much -a? But a great start - I like [name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Demetria[/name] or [name]Ariana[/name] [name]Demeter[/name]…
[name]Asta[/name]-[name]Skye[/name] [name]Morgana[/name] - [name]Asta[/name]-[name]Skye[/name] feels kind of like too much name, or [name]Astin[/name]-[name]Martin[/name] or something. [name]Asta[/name] [name]Morgan[/name] or [name]Asta[/name] [name]Sky[/name] is OK, I suppose, though [name]Esther[/name] [name]Skye[/name] seems most wearable to me.
[name]Blair[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name] - perfectly nice, seems a little blander than your average taste.
[name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Victoire[/name]* - this is lovely, I like the [name]Cecilia[/name] spelling more though fwiw…
[name]Cerelia[/name] [name]Rowan[/name]* - pretty, but [name]Cerelia[/name] seems confusing, I would take [name]Cecilia[/name]/[name]Cecelia[/name] over [name]Cerelia[/name]
[name]Columbia[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - cool, but [name]Columbia[/name] is a lot too wear…
[name]Edie[/name] [name]Sienna[/name]* - [name]Edie[/name] feels like not quite enough name…but [name]Eden[/name] [name]Sienna[/name] or [name]Edith[/name] [name]Sienna[/name] don’t have great flow, hmm…
[name]Effie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Effie[/name] feels like not enough name…
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - I don’t love [name]Evangeline[/name] but this is perfectly nice. It is more staid than your usual taste.
[name]Florence[/name] [name]Elisabetta[/name] - nice!
[name]Hazel[/name] [name]Savannah[/name]* - like it pretty well!
[name]Kaya[/name]-[name]Rayne[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] - I’d go with [name]Kaya[/name] [name]Victoire[/name]…
[name]Mercie[/name] [name]Annamarie[/name]* - very nice, [name]Mercy[/name] would be an easier spelling…
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Irene[/name] - clunky but cool
[name]Temperance[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name]/[name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Temperance[/name] - either name is nice, but together they are so much…
[name]Tempest[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]* – too matchy matchy on the ends for me…
Tenebre [name]Winter[/name] - I don’t know what to make of Tenebre
[name]Willow[/name] [name]Dakota[/name]. - fine, but again, more traditional than many here…
Hmmm for [name]Celeste[/name]:
[name]Celeste[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Finch[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name] [name]Isadora[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Liv[/name] / [name]Lux[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name] [name]Elvira[/name] / [name]Celeste[/name] [name]Elvira[/name] [name]Bay[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name] [name]Odette[/name] - These names seem to suit each other, but the endings are both too uprupt to flow.
… [name]Celeste[/name] [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Odette[/name] / [name]Celeste[/name] [name]Lavinia[/name] [name]Odette[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name] [name]Elvira[/name] [name]Bay[/name] is nice and [name]Elvira[/name] and [name]Bay[/name] kinda sticks to the feeling of [name]Celeste[/name].
[name]Tempest[/name]:
To me when i think of [name]Tempest[/name] i think of emotionaly strong, brooding, wayward and independance, soooo…
[name]Tempest[/name] Endellion - Really like this one, Endellion feels just like [name]Tempest[/name], imo.
[name]Tempest[/name] [name]Vermillion[/name]
[name]Tempest[/name] Elowen / [name]Tempest[/name] Elowen [name]Vrai[/name] ( [name]Vrai[/name] means truth, if your into meanings)
[name]Tempest[/name] [name]Antigone[/name]
[name]Tempest[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] Vinx
Any of those?
When i first saw Tenebre i pronunced it with the [name]Bree[/name] ending, so i guess Tenebrae would get your pronunc.
I would strongly suggest that you reconsider Tenebre/Tenebrae (especially the second spelling/pronunciation, which is correct Church Latin). It’s difficult to translate exactly; literally, I would say “shadows,” but I would add that it carries an extra, deeper layer of meaning which is something more like “darkness” – a particularly funereal, despairing kind of darkness. I’m not Catholic, but it’s my understanding that, during Lent, the religion observes a very solemn service called Tenebrae.
These are really strong associations – for anyone who knows theology, for anyone who knows Latin, and for anyone who speaks a modern [name]Romance[/name] language (the “tenebr-” root and meaning passed pretty much intact into French, at least). Please, please, please don’t use this as a name for a child.
On to happier things: Aleithea [name]Hope[/name] (I’ve sometimes seen this spelled [name]Aletheia[/name], which I like), [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Victoire[/name], [name]Florence[/name] [name]Elisabetta[/name] and [name]Mercy[/name] [name]Annamarie[/name] are really lovely combinations.
[name]Sol[/name], I really like [name]Celeste[/name] [name]Elvira[/name] [name]Bay[/name]! I also like [name]Celeste[/name] [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Odette[/name]. I also think [name]Celeste[/name] [name]Avalon[/name] would be nice with a second middle name but I’m unsure what, so I’m doing some research.
Is Endellion pronounced how it looks?
I like [name]Tempest[/name] Elowen [name]Vrai[/name] and [name]Tempest[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] Vinx too!
As for [name]Tempest[/name] [name]Antigone[/name], I think I like it, but I really love [name]Antigone[/name] and [name]Tempest[/name] as first names.
[name]True[/name], there’s just something that I really like about the Tenebre pronunciation.
Thanks holey! That means a lot! [name]Octavia[/name] is my absolute favourite girls names and [name]Irene[/name]'s after my nan.
I am aware of that, biademedici, thanks anyway though. I still really like it though. The only problem is how people will react. But that is another reason why I prefer the Tenebre spelling.
Thank you for telling me which ones you like.
I am in awe of your inclusion of [name]Temperance[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name], [name]Octavia[/name], [name]Antigone[/name], and [name]Cerelia[/name]! Wow! [name]Love[/name], love, love all of them. [name]Temperance[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] is a whole-lotta name, but it’s so bold and lovely! I assume from your interest in the aforementioned names that you’re into classic Greek and Shakespearean literature. So I wonder, then, if pairing [name]Temperance[/name] and [name]Ophelia[/name] might be a little ironic given [name]Hamlet[/name]'s [name]Ophelia[/name]'s suicide? I suppose only a lit nerd like me would ponder such a thing, though! [name]Violet[/name] [name]Antigone[/name] is, WOAH, seriously gorgeous and over-the-top in a good way. [name]Violet[/name], [name]Cerelia[/name], and [name]Ariana[/name] would be a charming sibset!
[name]Effie[/name], [name]Florence[/name], & [name]Hazel[/name] would make lovely sister names! All are gloriously old-fashioned and warm and fuzzy!
I am very much into classic Greek and Shakespearean literature! I did to wonder about the [name]Temperance[/name]/[name]Ophelia[/name] pair, but I decided that the majority of society wouldn’t pick it up. I originally had [name]River[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name]/[name]Ophelia[/name] [name]River[/name], until, (and it took me a few days, I’m sad to say) I realised the connection! I was always unsure if it actually went together though, I must have remembered in the back of my head! Haha.
I think that [name]Violet[/name] [name]Antigone[/name] flows better than [name]Antigone[/name] [name]Violet[/name], but I really would love [name]Antigone[/name] has a first name.
I’ve never thought much about sibsets yet, but I do agree that [name]Violet[/name], [name]Cerelia[/name] and [name]Ariana[/name] is charming and that [name]Effie[/name], [name]Florence[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] are all lovely together!
Thank you cristina!
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Temperance[/name] is quite nice. I really would love [name]Irene[/name] to be the middle name for one of them though, as they are honouring my nan who I am very close to.
Wow! [name]Florence[/name] [name]Irene[/name] is lovely!
I’m seriously considering changing my list so that there’s [name]Florence[/name] [name]Irene[/name] and [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Temperance[/name].
Then I just need a different combination for [name]Ophelia[/name]!
Lots of these are just gorgeous. Temperence [name]Ophelia[/name], [name]Effie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] are my favourites! As for the ones you’re revising, these are just a few brainstormed ideas…
I personally think you have a very various style in naming, and that’s great.
My personal favourite is [name]Florence[/name] [name]Elisabetta[/name]. [name]Elisabetta[/name] is one of those names I like but won’t use because it sounds too frilly, but I think it works really well as a middle name, especially with a first name like [name]Florence[/name] which is not too girly.
I also like [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Victoire[/name]. I wanted to like [name]Violet[/name] [name]Antigone[/name] but [name]Antigone[/name] is just too tragic for me.
Thanks [name]Olivia[/name]! (:
I love [name]Ariana[/name] [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Ariana[/name] [name]Tuesday[/name], [name]Mercie[/name] [name]Demetria[/name], [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Harlow[/name], [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Tempest[/name], [name]Cerelia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Cerelia[/name] [name]Hope[/name], [name]Edie[/name] [name]Constance[/name] and [name]Edie[/name] [name]Drusilla[/name]!
Thank you minorbeatrice! I certainly do have a various naming style!
I like [name]Junia[/name], [name]Melisande[/name], [name]Maia[/name] and [name]Ophelie[/name] but how exactly is [name]Junia[/name] pronounced?
I love, love, love the name [name]Antigone[/name]. I saw a BBC version of the play and fell in love with the character [name]Antigone[/name] and have loved the name ever since, but I don’t know if I could use it myself. (I’m an English professor and I’m probably not going to use names of characters from works I know I will teach a lot.) I do think it’s a wonderful name, though.
My favorites from your list: [name]Antigone[/name] [name]Violet[/name], Aleithea [name]Hope[/name], [name]Columbia[/name] [name]Faith[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name], [name]Florence[/name] [name]Elisabetta[/name], [name]Temperance[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name], and Tenebre [name]Winter[/name]
Other Comments:
Aleithea [name]Hope[/name]–[name]Love[/name]
[name]Antigone[/name] [name]Violet[/name]–[name]LOVE[/name]
[name]Ariana[/name] [name]Demetria[/name]–It’s okay, but I like several other choices of yours more.
[name]Asta[/name]-[name]Skye[/name] [name]Morgana[/name]: I am worried about the “Ass” part of “[name]Asta[/name]”; [name]Morgana[/name] is okay, but the popularity of [name]Morgan[/name] may detract from it.
[name]Blair[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name]: [name]Blair[/name] makes me think more of the girl from The Facts of Life than the Gossip Girl, but either way, I think spoiled little rich girl.
[name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Victoire[/name]–Nice!
[name]Cerelia[/name] [name]Rowan[/name]–Like
[name]Columbia[/name] [name]Faith[/name]–Very nice!
[name]Edie[/name] [name]Sienna[/name]–Cute, but I do like some others more
[name]Effie[/name] [name]Rose[/name]–My best friend’s name is [name]Effie[/name]; I think the [name]Effie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] combo is lovely!
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name]–[name]Love[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]!
[name]Florence[/name] [name]Elisabetta[/name]–Like this one a lot
[name]Hazel[/name] [name]Savannah[/name]–NMS
[name]Kaya[/name]-[name]Rayne[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]–NMS
[name]Mercie[/name] [name]Annamarie[/name]-NMS
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Irene[/name]–NMS
[name]Temperance[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name]/[name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Temperance[/name]*–I love the name [name]Temperance[/name], but I’m kind of iffy about [name]Ophelia[/name]. I like so many of [name]Shakespeare[/name]'s women, but she’s never been high on my list, so I’ve never really considered her name as I have others (including [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], and [name]Portia[/name], my favorites)
[name]Tempest[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]–NMS
Tenebre [name]Winter[/name]–Tenebre is new to me, but I think I like it. I also really like [name]Winter[/name].
[name]Willow[/name] [name]Dakota[/name]–Nice, but I don’t like it as much as some others on your list.
Thank you so much [name]Shelle[/name]! I think you’re the first person, (besides me) to like [name]Columbia[/name] [name]Faith[/name]!
I have considered the ‘ass’ part with [name]Asta[/name], but I pronounce [name]Asta[/name] as as-ta instead of ass-ta…though I’m not sure if that would make much of a difference.
I’ve liked [name]Ophelia[/name] since before I got into Shakepeare…I also agree with you, Shakepeare’s [name]Ophelia[/name] isn’t high on my list, but the name in general has been a long love of mine.
