[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]! It’s so handsome and I hate that I refuse to use [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- names, because of a personal experience with someone named ed. [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is so cute paired with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] just continues this feeling I get of this combo.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f]- I love this, so cute and girly to me.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] - This name is so cute.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - Flow is cute here.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] - OH my god, I just swooned over this one. I love the flow here! So pretty.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]- This is okay, [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] throws it off for me.
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this!
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] - Cute and love them together
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] - [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] isn’t my favorite, but I like it with [name_f]Maude[/name_f].
[name_f]Maud[/name_f]/e [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] - This is cute.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] - This just feels off to me for some reason. I love all the names, too. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] would be so handsome, maybe [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] would be better.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Nicanor [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]- This is cute. Like the vibes I get from it.
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]- I like the two middle names flipped a little better, imo. But otherwise, I like this handsome combo.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this, so cute.
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]- [name_m]How[/name_m] are you pronouncing [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]? I would love to know. I like this.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]- This works well with eachother, makes me like both names said together.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] - I love this, and honestly [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] never works for me, but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Maud[/name_f] together= perfect.
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] - “[name_f]Minnie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]”- I I like [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] a lot, and [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and her nickname a lot. But [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is missing something for me.
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] “[name_f]Dot[/name_f]/tie”- I love [name_f]Dorthy[/name_f] and using [name_f]Dot[/name_f]/[name_f]Dottie[/name_f] is so cute!
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]- Such a classic royal name that can never get old seeing it used is good, even more as a first name.
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]- I feel like this can come back now.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]- I like the flow here.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]- One of my favorite old names, that I just find so timeless and handsome.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]: I like all three names a lot, though just [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] would work better for me.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f]: Something trips me up between [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and it makes the combo feel off. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] flows better and I like this order of the syllables better too. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is lovely.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]: I’ve never really loved [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but I’ve long admired your [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] doesn’t add much to the combo, I’m afraid, at least for me. But [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is perfection.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]: Again I like all three names. [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is my great-grandmother’s name and though it’s a bit popular for me, I like the name. But something about this combo is…gritty. I know that’s a weird word, but it’s all I can think of, as if someone is saying this name with gritted teeth. Not sure why, maybe just the sounds all together?
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]: I prefer the first [name_f]Flora[/name_f] combo, personally.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]: I feel much the same about this as I do about [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] together, it’s perfect, but [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] doesn’t really add much. In fact, it kind of takes away the specialness of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f].
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]: This is very nice. I love it!
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]: Hmmm. This seems very ‘farm-girl’ to me, which isn’t a bad thing, but it doesn’t seem to fit with the rest of your names. I think the n’s so close together are a smidge off putting. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would work better with some of your other names for me, like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f].
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f]: I like this, but [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] is so much nicer that I would keep [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] in that combo.
[name_f]Maud[/name_f]/e [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]: I like [name_f]Maud[/name_f] and [name_f]Maude[/name_f], but not with [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]. I feel that [name_f]Maud[/name_f] is so blunt that it needs a more flowery/imaginative name paired with it.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]: I like this. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] would make two terrifically named brothers.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Nicanor [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]: The end of [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and the beginning of Nicanor run together for me. I would prefer them to be in other combos. Nicanor [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] works great together.
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]: I like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. LoL. I think it’s just the whole double middle thing. Most double middle combos feel off to me when I say them aloud and I’ve never been a fan of them. I’m trying not to let that get in the way, but it does. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is wonderful, as is [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] but all three seem too much and rather pretentious.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u]: I think I would prefer this combo switched. [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is absolutely impressive.
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]: I love [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is okay, but I’m just not loving it.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]! With [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], it works…but I think I’d prefer another combo for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f]: [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is miles better for me.
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] - “[name_f]Minnie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]”: I actually knew a [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]…who wasn’t the nicest woman in the world, so that association I can’t get past. That said, I still don’t love these combos and they are a bit difficult to say, but if I had to pick one, I’d go with [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] “[name_f]Dot[/name_f]/tie”: I dislike the sound of [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], but I love both [name_f]Dot[/name_f] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f].
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]: It’s an okay name, but doesn’t really strike me as anything memorable or enchanting.
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. I grew up with a [name_m]Victor[/name_m] who was fun and empathetic and generous. It’s a great name.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]: I like both names but they are a mouthful together with a lot of the same sounds.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
@brigx
Thank you for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
I pronounce [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] the same as I would for a girl "VIH-vee-en)
@trin14
I’m entirely the opposite, having grown up around many people with at least 2 middle names, one middle name combos always feel very incomplete to me when adding the last name. With two middles, I feel like they’re able to shine in their own right, while with one, I feel like they’re only a bridge between first and last name, only there to complement the first name; I find they get a little lost.
I can understand where you’re coming from, though, and how that would affect your opinion, it’d affect mine, too.
As for [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], it doesn’t seem to trip me up, but then I tend to pronounce [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] with more of an EE sound (not quite as bold as in [name_u]Eden[/name_u], something between EE and Eh) which might make it easier.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] isn’t for me, I’m really not a fan of the short name in the middle, neither in look nor sound.
And I’m afraid I don’t love [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] enough to put him up-front, though it is a gorgeous name.
I can also see [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] being very farm-girlish if you’re from NA or generally pronounce [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] without sharp Ts (“Henryedda”), I do feel it has a very different vibe to an English [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it?
Thank you for your input, it’s been interesting to read
Have you considered [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] or [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]?
Favourites:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] - I’m actually not a huge fan of [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but this combo flows really well. It sounds royal and whimsical at the same time. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] would be stunning, too, but it might just be my preference for shorter names kicking in. [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious, do you pronounce [name_f]Alice[/name_f] with one or two syllables in [name_m]German[/name_m]?
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f], not a fan of the other two, but the combination is fantastic. She would be a perfect sister for [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] gives me such a warm and cozy feeling. I have only ever known one [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and she had curly hair and played the violin. Sorry for rambling, haha.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] - [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is my #1 boy name, so naturally I love it. It reminds me of medieval knights, sword-battles and magical forests. I prefer [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] to [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] because I feel [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] needs a more lyrical name to balance it out, if that makes sense?
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] “[name_f]Dot[/name_f]/tie” - I love [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], but dislike all her nicknames. The full name is great, though. She gives me much of the same feeling as [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and kind of feels like a warm hug…
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - My #2 boy name, haha. I’ve loved this one for years and could probably write a book on my feelings about it. I also like the nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u].
Some more comments:
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - It’s OK, but you have much more interesting (and equally timeless) names on your list. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisa[/name_f]? I feel they would fit better into the list.
[name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] both names, but the combo feels a bit heavy since both names are so grand. I feel the same about [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] (although I prefer [name_f]Maud[/name_f] to [name_f]Jane[/name_f]).
I like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for your list!
For what it’s worth, I’m [name_u]North[/name_u] American, and pronounce [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] as [name_f]Hen[/name_f]-ree-ett-ah - sharp T’s, and it reminds me of hens/chickens, as there was once a cartoon chicken over here called [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] [name_f]Hen[/name_f] (I think she’s from [name_f]Sesame[/name_f] [name_m]Street[/name_m]?). It’s a running joke among a lot of people where I am that [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] is only a suitable name for a chicken, LOL but I’m sure in Germany, you don’t have that issue
Also, depending on the accent, [name_f]Maud[/name_f]/[name_f]Maude[/name_f] can sound very much like mud, so I’d bear that in mind if pronunciations bother you - it’s the very reason why I took [name_f]Maude[/name_f] off my list so many years ago.
@southern.maple
I had considered [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] but felt it was a bit too soft without any hard consonants in the combo (I say [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] as [name_m]AH[/name_m]-thuh).
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is a bit too long for me both in look and sound (I pronounce [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] with 3 (or 2.5) syllables), I feel like neither really gets the attention they deserve.
Thank you for the suggestions, though!
@daphodil
Thank you for taking the time to comment on so many, I really appreciate it
I do adore “just” [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], too, but it sounds incomplete to me when adding a surname. If I were to use it in [name_m]German[/name_m], I’d say ah-LEES.
I do love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] for exactley the reason you said, it sounds lyrical and knightly.
I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Elisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], they’re both sweet and fun but there’s something about [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], it’s just so classy, elegant and regal, I love it. I also really like the idea of [name_f]Beth[/name_f] nicknames.
I didn’t think either [name_f]Maud[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be perceived as “grand”, if you don’t mind, can you elaborate on this?
@lawsonhaley
[name_f]Glad[/name_f] you like so many & thank you for commenting!
No, I don’t think [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] would be a problem here and I’ve never heard anyone mention it on here before, either; was she a major character?
I don’t think I’d use [name_f]Maud[/name_f]/e as a first name, I do love her a lot but it’s just not a practical name to have when spending a lot of time around Germans (which my child would, wether we lived in Germany or not). I would use it as a middle name, though, as they’re rarely said out loud.
@ophelia, good question, haha. It’s mainly [name_f]Maud[/name_f]/e and [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] I’m referring to and with grand I mean grande dame. Key words: old, classic, sturdy, prestige, royalty. I just want to emphasize that I don’t mean that as a negative thing! I have to admit that [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] grew on me after I read the post, though. Now it gives me more of an adventurous vibe instead of just old-fashioned.
Thank you for explaining When I read grand, I usually think of long names, so [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] made sense but [name_f]Maude[/name_f] didn’t, now it does.
I’m glad [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] grew on you, it’s the more realistic choice (though still not very should my future children be born in Germany), I love [name_f]Maud[/name_f]/e but as a first name, it’s not very usable here.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] with [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] sounds funny to me. I just keep thinking [name_m]Ed[/name_m] [name_m]Fred[/name_m].
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Nicanor [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and Nicanor seem to run together. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] Niconor might work better.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] - Not my style but nothing that stands out as wrong to me.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] better than [name_f]Maud[/name_f] but still too far from my style.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (luh-[name_m]VIN[/name_m]-nee-a) - This one’s not bad. [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] always makes me think of Lavatory though.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] - I don’t mind this.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] (GP) - [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] makes me think of both virgin and vagina.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - I quite like this.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] - Nice.
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - I like this.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] - Doesn’t flow well for me but don’t mind the names.
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] - see comment above on [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f].
[name_f]Maud[/name_f]/e [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] - I think this would flow better the other way around. [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f].
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] - This is ok.
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - Not keen on [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] at all and whilst I Know [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is a boys name too I see it as a girls name
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] - I like this.
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] - “[name_f]Minnie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]” - Why not Wilhemina [name_f]May[/name_f]? [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is the most straightfoward of these to get [name_f]May[/name_f].
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] “[name_f]Dot[/name_f]/tie” - I like dorothy, [name_f]Dot[/name_f] is ok but [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] makes me think [name_f]Dotty[/name_f] (ie. crazy, ridiculous etc.)
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - Lots of good nickname possibilities. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] since you like a lot of older names?
[name_m]Victor[/name_m] - makes me think of this old kids cartoon called [name_m]Victor[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] about two criminals. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] doesn’t remind me of it. [name_m]Victa[/name_m] which sounds similar is an Australian lawn mower company. Also knew a [name_m]Victor[/name_m] who was not a nice guy. All reasons I don’t like this name.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. It’s actually on my list for my next child. Nickname wise I like [name_u]Theo[/name_u] over [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]/Ted by a long shot. I will be using a family middle name but I love the combo [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].
I love [name_f]Maud[/name_f] too! It’s not completely unheard of here, but definitely not what I would consider common. And as a middle name it goes with pretty much everything.
@tulip_85
I wonder what your style is?
Thank you for the comments.
@daphodil
IIRC there is a Scandinavian royal named [name_f]Maud[/name_f]?
In [name_m]German[/name_m], it’s very close to both “murder” (mord) and “toll” (maut), so it definitely doesn’t work as a FN here
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is a wonderful name and one of my very favourites. I love how he manages to be so strong and manly and grounded, and yet sweet and poetic as well.
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] seems more like his brother than the same person, though. They have a similar style but different personalities.
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] would round either off for a dapper, airy name.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Nicanor [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - This is lovely, and the names complement each other perfectly. Solitary and pensive [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], hotheaded and intriguing Nicanor, and jaunty, carefree [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - together they have an incredibly dashing character.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] - [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is so sweet and ladylike, and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] complements her English country garden feel.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] - This doesn’t work so well as the previous combo, as [name_f]Margot[/name_f] has more of a rough-and-tumble country feel that would be better paired with perhaps [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], or [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (luh-[name_m]VIN[/name_m]-nee-a) - [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is one of the loveliest names hands-down; human and natural, and at the same time absolutely magical. The names are a perfect match, but I just can’t really warm up to [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], which to me smacks of [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] inA [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and her snootiness.
I always love looking at your combos, by the way. They’re the epitome of good Nameberry taste. I might come back with some more comments.
Well, there was the British-born [name_f]Maud[/name_f] of Norway, who was the granddaughter of [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. Her great-great-grandchild was named [name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] in her honour. ‘Mord’ is murder in Norwegian too, but it’s pronounced quite differently. I would like to use it, but it doesn’t sound as well in DH’s Spanish
This is super interesting as [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is one of those super classy, sleek and elegant names to me. More blonging to an adult than a child, cold rather than warm.
It’s quite funny how names that have such a clear imagery for one person can be viewed so differently by another!

This is one of the nicest, sweetest things I’ve ever read about my combos/names/style, thank you very much, you really made my day with that
