Hi there.
Here are my thoughts:
Dorothy-This is charming. Very old lady, & ready for a comeback. It’s kind of sweet & quiet, but also has.bit of a glamorous feeling at the same time. I also like [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]. I feel like it’s a bit more studious version of [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. And I love the nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
Florence-All Berries seems to love it, but I can’t get on board. I think that it sounds a little stuffy & not that pretty. I do like [name_f]Flora[/name_f].
Helen-Not a fan of this one. I like the idea of it, but the ‘Hel’ part just doesn’t sound nice to me. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I love [name_m]Cillian[/name_m] for a boy.
Irene-I don’t care for this. It’s different, but just has a screechy sound to my ears. I feel the same way about [name_f]Iris[/name_f].
Elspeth-Ooh, so sweet. Smart, unique, feminine & has the great nn of. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. I don’t think that [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] will get popular, but lots of other ‘[name_f]El[/name_f]’ name are.
Dahlia-So beautiful! It’s a little dramatic, but still soft at the same time. It’s simple & somehow not over done, & has great botanical imagery.
Leonora/Eleanora-I like it a lot w/the ‘E’ at the front. [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] sounds more dark & serious, whereas [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] I feel like sounds bold but more sweet & girly. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nns too. [name_f]Nellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] & [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
Linnea-I can’t get into this one. It’s not bad. I think that the pronunciation could be tricky.
Lyra-Is this ‘Leer-uh’ or ‘Lie-ruh’? It’s pretty either way. A bit pixie-ish yet elegant.
Sybil-It’s different, but I don’t care for it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] sounds a little dull.
Ethel-I want to like this one, but it’s just a little dusty.
Alma-I can’t get into this one either. Sounds a little clunky, but it’s different.
Ida-This is growing on me. I like the idea of it more than the sound, but it’s a fun choice.
Edith-Nah, I don’t think it’s popular. [name_m]Just[/name_m] on Nameberry! I don’t think I’ve heard it in real life in the U.S. It’s adorable.
Vera-[name_m]Veer[/name_m], I think. It’s kind of another one of those vintage names. that I want to like but sounds just a bit too old lady for me.
Marigold-So sweet. Classic & lovely imagery.
Constance-I don’t think this one has a very pretty sound, honestly.
Ara/Aira-I like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] nn [name_u]Ara[/name_u]. Seems a bit short on its own. Or maybe [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Aura[/name_f]?
Rosamund/Rosalie-I think that [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] is a safer bet to stay uncommon. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is super cute, but I hear it a bit more.
Selah-Pronunciation may be tricky, but it’s okay. Not my favorite, but not awful.
Imogen-I wish that I had fun names like [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] as a family name! I like it. It’s smart, quirky, unique & has great nns like [name_f]Idgie[/name_f], [name_f]Imee[/name_f], [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] & [name_f]Minnie[/name_f].
Lucinda-Not my favorite [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] name. Is there some reason that it reminds me of a spider? You know us name nerds are weird about random associations.
Delphine-I suppose you may get the nn of [name_m]Deli[/name_m] sometimes. It’s not bad. I prefer [name_f]Delia[/name_f].
Hope this helps.
