I am due at the end of the month with my second baby and I’m having a hard time deciding on a couple of finalists to choose from when the little girl finally arrives. Our son’s name is [name_m]Finian[/name_m] and our last name is a three syllable name starting with S. I very much want to honor my mother by using either her first or last name. Her name is [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f].
Here are the options I’m considering in rough order of preference.
I’m hesitant to use the name [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], though it has grown on me. I also like the nickname [name_f]Aggie[/name_f]. If we use [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], I would like to make sure she has a fun, youthful middle name that she could use as an alternative but I’m having a hard time coming up with a good middle name option. I’d love to hear any reactions people have to these names or other suggestions.
In [name_m]French[/name_m], the name [name_f]Inez[/name_f]/[name_f]Ines[/name_f] is very popular, and it’s a variation of [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]… What do you think of using that instead? However I do think [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is pretty! The [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] combo doesn’t sound as nice though, maybe because of the double S ending. You could also use [name_f]Pattie[/name_f]/[name_f]Trish[/name_f]/[name_f]Trisha[/name_f]/[name_u]Patsy[/name_u] as a variation of [name_f]Patricia[/name_f]. Out of your list, I like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] the best. Other suggestions :
I have to say, I’m not terribly struck by [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], they just aren’t my style. Of your combinations I like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] the most.

And [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and [name_m]Finian[/name_m] are pretty cool together–at first I thought they seemed really mismatched, but with the saint ties with [name_m]Finian[/name_m] and its history, I think they could really work well together! They kind of balance each other out. [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] gives [name_m]Finian[/name_m] a bit of a more historical feel, and [name_m]Finian[/name_m] makes [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] more fun. Besides, how beautiful is the [name_m]French[/name_m] prn. (ahn-YESS)?! I adore her. [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is my favorite, but I also like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], too. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] is nice, but I’ve never really been able to get into [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], and I like [name_m]Finian[/name_m] and [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] together much more than [name_m]Finian[/name_m] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (although the Irish feel of the two are quite lovely together!).
I have an Inés, so I’m a bit biased toward [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], but [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are all beautiful too. I like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] the most, I think. That would be gorgeous and make a great sibset. What is your son’s middle name?

From your list I like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] the most. Nickname option of [name_f]Aggie[/name_f], but also Ness/[name_f]Nessie[/name_f]/[name_f]Nessa[/name_f] or AJ if she is a bit if a tomboy (plus multiple other options if she wants to use her middle name instead).

I really like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] as a first name! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is an obvious fit with [name_m]Finian[/name_m]–although maybe a little too obvious? [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] fits really well too. So I would vote [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. She could always go by [name_u]Josie[/name_u] if she doesn’t like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] or [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] (although both are adorable [name_f]IMO[/name_f]!).
