Thoughts on my short list?

After much worrying over whether they go, and completely ridding it of unisex names (bye [name_f]Baylie[/name_f] :() I think I’ve found a great list, but I would still like some thoughts on them, be brutally honest if you have to!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] (e[name_f]LAYna[/name_f])

I kept switching between [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] but as I have two [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]'s in my family already, and I love the song by Arctic Monkeys, [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] it is!

What are your thoughts on the names? One name holding me down slightly is [name_f]Leah[/name_f] as, according to Nameberry, it means weary. I love the sound and how it looks to ignore the meaning, though. Also, if it helps, I live in [name_f]England[/name_f]. I hear comments on here about [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]'s popularity in USA/[name_f]CA[/name_f] but I’ve never met an [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] in my life so don’t think that will be an issue. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is also to honour my grandmother called [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f], do you think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is a name that could honour [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]?

Thanks.

I adore [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. I feel neutral about all the rest. Yes, I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] can honor your grandma.

[name_f]My[/name_f] son loves Arctic Monkeys so he would most likely root on [name_f]Arabella[/name_f].

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] - A classic. [name_m]Will[/name_m] never be out of style. Ages well. Can see it on a baby, a teen, a senior etc…
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] - Nice name, trendy though.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f], bold, unique.
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] - Nothing wrong with it, just not my cup of tea
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] - Kind of boring to me.
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] - not my cup of tea
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] though “bel” names are kind of trendy right now.
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] (e[name_f]LAYna[/name_f]) - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this.

Thank you for the feedback so far guys!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] - One of my favorite girls names. I love the symmetry of it.
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] - I like it best as a nn for [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - this name was a lovely sound to it.
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] - This seems kind of 90s to me.
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] - Okay but not a favorite of my mine
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] - I really like this name and think it is a great way to honor a [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f].
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] - pretty but too many bell las around.
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] - a great choice very pretty.

Overall, a great list:

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] - a bit staid for my tastes
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] -pretty
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - gorgeous
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] - fresh & contemporary
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] - feminine and lush
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] - lovely, I like [name_f]Tea[/name_f] and [name_f]Tia[/name_f] too
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] - absolutely gorgeous !!
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] (e[name_f]LAYna[/name_f]) - NMS

Cheers

PS I love the name [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] for a girl.

Nice list. To me they seem pretty, but kind of insubstantial. They all have such soft, light sounds. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any names with V, X, Z, or a hard C/K sound–just for a little contrast? [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is probably the standout w/the ‘B’. I’d suggest [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f], or [name_f]Adele[/name_f], or just pair them w/stronger middle names.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f].

  • [name_f]Anna[/name_f] & [name_f]Lily[/name_f]: beautiful and timeless, but very common.
  • [name_f]Freya[/name_f]: I don’t know why, but I really don’t like this variation. I love the name Frøya (Norwegian spelling) though, so I guess I’m just being weird. However, it’s a very strong name and great namesake!
  • [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]: too 90’s for me
  • [name_f]Leah[/name_f]: I don’t like [name_f]Leah[/name_f] much, sorry! To me it sounds boring and weary
  • [name_f]Thea[/name_f]: love! Extremely popular where I live, but I’d still use it. Very sweet name.
  • [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]: so tired of -bel/-bella names, but if I had to pick one I guess this is the better option.
  • [name_f]Elena[/name_f]: very pretty and sweet!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] - common but beautiful. A classic name that ages well and can sound sweet and spunky at the same time.
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] - I love love [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name. There’s something so elegant about it.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - less common than the first two and just as beautiful. There’s something bold and colourful about it.
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] - not so keen on this one. I don’t really like the whispery hissing sound. It has a lot of nickname options though.
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] - it’s alright, but not a favourite.
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] - I think this is a lovely name. It’s not too common but not too out there and I really love this on a little girl, teen and adult.
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] - pretty but very frilly.
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] - another elegant name! Beautiful and with a pop culture reference.
