Thoughts on my top 3?

I like unpopular one or two syllable first names with a vintage vibe. For middle names I like more common or classic names. Here are the top 3 DH and I have come up with for boy and girl. Thoughts/Suggestions? Favorites/ Least Favorites? Thanks!

Girl:
[name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]

Boy:
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Mason[/name_u]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Kai[/name_u]
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_m]Asher[/name_m]

Some others we like but aren’t sure about for various reasons:
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (similar to my best friend’s name which I love, but kinda a mouth full and not a fan of nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f])
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (Is this cheesy with [name_u]June[/name_u]? Sorta sounds like [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u])
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] (Like it as middle name, just not sure what to pair it with. Maybe [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] instead of [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]?)
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] (Cute but a bit too trendy)
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] ([name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Could possibly replace [name_u]Arlo[/name_u])
[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] (Like the sound but not really anything else about it)

For girls I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. Both have that funky, spiky, feisty retro vibe that you seem to love.

I do like [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] but I think the spelling would be problematic, and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] in the middle is a bit more “vanilla” than either [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] or [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] to me.

For boys, I adore [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is such a cool, solid, laid-back name, and [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is beautiful with a wonderful meaning. Your boys’ names sound more modern overall than your girls’’ to me (especially [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] and [name_u]Kai[/name_u]), but they still have the same “cool factor” so definitely work together.

I also like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (not too close to [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]IMO[/name_f]), [name_u]Wren[/name_u] (I like [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u], but prefer [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]), [name_m]Miles[/name_m] (not trendy in my book), and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] (I definitely prefer this to [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]).

[name_u]June[/name_u]*[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - it’s so elegant and sleek, I like it

[name_u]Blaire[/name_u]*[name_f]Elise[/name_f] -[name_u]Blaire[/name_u] is lovely and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is sweet but I’m not sure on their flow together. [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] maybe? [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] perhaps?

[name_f]Etta[/name_f]*[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - wow!! This is incredible! So bright, vibrant and charmy! Vintage and brilliant!

[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]*[name_u]Mason[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], so funky and cool. [name_u]Mason[/name_u] isn’t a fave of mine but they flow well together and work! [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]?

[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]*[name_u]Kai[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] and I enjoy the flow with [name_u]Kai[/name_u]

[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]*[name_m]Asher[/name_m] - this is amazing!! [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and [name_m]Asher[/name_m] are incredible together-it feels so modern but rugged, sweet but adventurous

Thank you so much! I love [name_f]Willa[/name_f]! I adore [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] as well. I agree that my boy names are more modern. [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and [name_u]Mason[/name_u] are family names I wanted to use so I’m having a tricky time fitting them into my theme I’ve got going with the girls names.

For girls, I like [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. The others seem a bit plain for me.

[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_m]Asher[/name_m] is wonderful for a boy and I quite like [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Kai[/name_u]. I love [name_u]Mason[/name_u] however have negative associations with [name_u]Arlo[/name_u].

Of the others, I love [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], and [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is lovely.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

You have lovely taste!

Here are my thoughts:

Girl:

[name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]-This is great. Usually the fn/mn combination both ending in ‘n’ would bother me, but the style of these names go so well together that I don’t mind it. I love the nn [name_f]Junie[/name_f] too. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you? It may be hard to avoid.

[name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]-I go back and fourth on whether or not I like this name. It’s different & simple, but also kind of snobby sounding for some reason. I also much prefer the [name_u]Blair[/name_u] spelling. Seems more classic that way. I also prefer [name_u]Blair[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]-This is kind of cute. It seems nick-namey, but I’m not sure what for. [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] or [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], but just [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is cuter than both of those. It’s unique & simple. Pretty fn/mn combo too.

Boy:

[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Mason[/name_u]-[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is so cute. I warn you that I see this flying up the popularity charts. Maybe it won’t get too far too soon, but who knows. I love [name_u]Ari[/name_u] too! That’s my kitty’s name. I don’t care for [name_u]Mason[/name_u], but I guess this is a descent combo.

[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Kai[/name_u]-This is alright. It’s not my favorite, but a perfectly nice name.

[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_m]Asher[/name_m]-This is cool. I like the fn/mn combo a lot. I prefer [name_u]Finn[/name_u], although [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is probably less popular.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] & [name_u]June[/name_u] may be cheesy… I don’t know that it’d be a deal breaker for me. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is gorgeous.

[name_u]Wren[/name_u] is a cute mn, but I don’t think that it flows as well as [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].

[name_m]Miles[/name_m] is quite trendy. [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is cute, but getting really popular too.

I adore [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]! It’s such a fun rough and tumble boy name, but I could also picture him being a carpenter, artist or business man as an adult. [name_m]Thatch[/name_m] & Thax are awesome nns too.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

It seems [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_m]Asher[/name_m] are favs! [name_u]June[/name_u] has family meaning too, (my mother always called me Junebug because I have a birthday in [name_u]June[/name_u]), so this will likely be her nn. I prefer the spelling [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] to [name_u]Blair[/name_u] because I feel it makes it look more feminine. But the flow of [name_u]Blair[/name_u] with an E middle name does look better. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys like [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], or [name_m]Milo[/name_m]? I think all will rise in popularity but which will the least? As for the name [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], perhaps [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Beck[/name_u] may match the other names better? What about Blaire Cassia?

I think that I like [name_m]Milo[/name_m] best. But then again if you’re a nn person, [name_f]Miley[/name_f] is not great. And like I said, I love [name_u]Ari[/name_u]. [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is cute, but just seems very much like a nn for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is surely the most common too. It’s hard to say which will rise in popularity more; [name_m]Milo[/name_m] or [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]. My gut say [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], even though [name_m]Milo[/name_m] is more popular as of right now.

[name_u]Ari[/name_u] isn’t my favorite because I’ve only heard it as a nn for girls. My husband is against [name_m]Milo[/name_m] so I guess sticking with [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] would be best. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Beck[/name_u] is really growing on me. Any other ideas for a middle name for [name_u]Blaire[/name_u]? I just can’t find one that feels right.

[name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - This name is so vibrant, punchy, and full of life! I love the colorful zesty [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] with her vintage glamour next to the summery [name_u]June[/name_u] with her core of inner strength, a la Handmaid’s Tale. It’s rare to find vintage combos that feel powerful rather than delicate, and this one really sets the tone for your style!

[name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] - I understand the appeal of [name_u]Blaire[/name_u], but it always puts me in mind of negative associations like the [name_u]Blair[/name_u] Witch Project and the impudent, entitled [name_u]Blair[/name_u] Waldorf doesn’t help. I love the sleek elegance of [name_f]Elise[/name_f], but she seems too sweet next to the brashness of [name_u]Blaire[/name_u]. I feel like this combo doesn’t measure up to the high bar set by [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. I also love [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], but I feel like that’s even further away than [name_f]Elise[/name_f], given that the latter definitely has more of the vintage cred.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - Now this not only meets the standard set by [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - this exceeds it! [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is charming, quaint, and self-assured, and her dainty air does nothing to diminish her strength. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] feels vibrant, lively, and fresh here, quite the feat considering that it’s easy for this one to skew frumpy if not well-paired. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is vivid, precocious, and utterly delectable. Great choice!

[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Mason[/name_u] - I love [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]. He’s vintage, but cool, like playing music on old records in lieu of CD’s. I know [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is a family name, but I just don’t think it fits here. It feels more country lane than upscale vintage. It has none of [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]'s hipster quirk or effortless chill.

[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Kai[/name_u] - I’m surprised to find that I love [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] for you! Again, this combo is less vivacious than the girls. I love the open vowels of [name_u]Kai[/name_u], but I find it too modern here - it pulls [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] forward a couple decades from gentle vintage into faded and dated. [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Beck[/name_u] is better, but I still think it’s missing that special something that sings from your girls’ names.

[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_m]Asher[/name_m] - This might be my favorite of your boys combos. I love the soft sound and classic feel of [name_m]Asher[/name_m] next to the sassier, more reckless [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]. It still doesn’t quite measure up to the girls for me.

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] - This is sweet and a little clunky, a great chord for a vintage name to strike, but it seems too long compared to your other names, and if you don’t like [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], this probably isn’t the one.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] - I actually love this for you! It has the same cheeky flounce I get from [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. I don’t think it sounds too much like [name_f]May[/name_f] to pair with [name_u]June[/name_u], but if it bothers you, [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] would make a great middle name! Perhaps instead of [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], you could do [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. It definitely has the same flouncing sound and mischievous twinkle as your other girls’ names. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] might be too similar to [name_f]Etta[/name_f] for them both to be firsts, and it would be sacrilege to suggest changes to [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], haha!

[name_u]Wren[/name_u] - I love the soft sound and vintage nature vibes. This is one of those names that can either feel spunky and fresh or plain and dated, depending on the combo. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is cute, but doesn’t hold a candle to [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].

[name_m]Miles[/name_m] - I think this is very sweet, but it still feels too mild for me compared with your girls’ names. What about [name_m]Milo[/name_m] instead? It feels more punchy with the O ending, more like [name_u]Arlo[/name_u].

[name_u]Theo[/name_u] - I absolutely adore [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. I think it’s one of the sweetest names on a little boy! It always feels soft and gentle to me, but still spunky and bright, with a hint of mischief. I wouldn’t replace [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], though! Between the two, [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is definitely closer to the vibe of [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].

[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] - This name is always so fun to say - something about the Th and then the “atch” sound. I think it would definitely need to be paired with something bright and punchy to avoid slipping into musty old man territory.

Normally this is the part where I would just list a whole bunch of names that you might like based on your style, but I think I’m going to step out of the comfort zone and try my hand at some combos for you! I really think your style has so much potential to be iconic, and I want to see you find some combos that live up to [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]!

WOW! I absolutely love your suggestions! Didn’t think about those associations with [name_u]Blaire[/name_u] but now I’m definitely leaning away from that name. [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is amazing! But is the soft A vowel sound at the end too similar to [name_f]Etta[/name_f]? Trying to picture them together in a possible future sibset seems a little matchy-matchy. I like [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] a lot. [name_m]Will[/name_m] definitely show my hubby your list and see what he thinks! I’m very picky with my boy names. After finding [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] the standards for boy names have increased
