Asking for a family member. Pronounced “Ish-belle” where I live. It is Scottish and she is of Scottish heritage. Where we live is quite cultural and I know a few scotts who have moved here! ( NZ). [name_m]Just[/name_m] need opinions for her as it’s different!!
[name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful! So interesting and pretty
I could see it growing on me though I would not say it is my style. I like when people chose unexpected names and this one is very sweet. I like the cultural connection and the pronunciation is straitforward too.
Such a gorgeous name!
[name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] is my mum’s middle name! I’ve always loved it. Since Isabella/Isabel/etc. have been trendy so long, it’s a good way to stay familiar but unique.
I’ve never heard of it but it is sooo beautiful! I definitely think that the pronunciation and spelling are intuitive enough, and it reads very classic with a hint of spunk. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!
I really love it. I’ve never been the biggest fan of [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and variants as I generally find them a bit too frilly and a bit overdone, but [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] has always been the exception! I love the soft, magical “sh” sound and the more offbeat, slightly fae-like vibe the name has. Lots of people say it sounds like [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] with a lisp but I think it’s beautiful!
I also really love the name [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] or Ishmay, and I always think of them as a pair.
Same here!! I think it is so sweet, and somehow loses the frills of its variants.
Initially when I saw your post I was like “no way, sounds like she’s sort of bel. Like ish” but the more I think of I like it
