I would not want to see this on a little boy (or girl, for that matter). My first impression is the alcohol and all of the rappers that reference this drink in their songs.
I can appreciate that it has a good sound and think it could work for a name if it wasn’t for the alcohol. Sorry!
I’ll second the above. But what about [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u]? Seems to fit the same sound, and work as a name!
I got a cousin that named her daughter [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u]. Guess I don’t listen to enough rap…
I used to know (as an acquaintance) a little girl named Hennessey, and as soon as I shared the name with others I got the same response. I don’t drink alcohol of any variety, so my knowledge is pretty much limited to popular commercials while I watch television, lol, but since the association seemed so strong to them, I would avoid it for that reason. [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] is definitely a nice alternative, or maybe another Irish surname?
Good luck!
I’d definitely choose the first spelling if you use that name.
I’m not a fan, as I immediately think of the alcohol/rapper associations as well.
Other options for the “[name_f]Hen[/name_f]” beginning: [name_m]Henry[/name_m] or [name_m]Hendrix[/name_m].
I spell It Hennessy & have it on my girls’ list. Since it is a surname, it should go for male or female.
I am so sorry, but my first thought is that his parents must be alcoholics. I would also suggest [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u].
The cognac brand is my first association with this name.
I agree with some of the above posters, I immediately think of the alcohol and would assume his parents were big drinkers. Sorry
