We just found out lil sprog is a baby girl and I wanted to run our girls blame by you.
I think we have decided on [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Fae[/name] (last name is 2 syllables beginning with M and ending in -er sound)
We love the name but are slightly concerned [name]Phoebe[/name] is sneaking up the chart in the UK where we live ( it’s now at no.25)
I don’t know if we should be bothered by this or not. I don’t tend to be a fan of overly popular names.
If not [name]Phoebe[/name] than what instead? We would love it to be a Biblical name as we are [name]Christian[/name].
Names we like atm:
[name]Lia[/name] ([name]Leah[/name]) - love this character and husband and I both have sisters called [name]Rachel[/name] so it would honor them but not sure how it sounds with surname
Please make suggestions
I’m not just looking for biblical names. I also love names that have a godly meaning eg. Loving Thea atm which means Gift of God.
I like [name]Phoebe[/name] but love [name]Leah[/name].
My other favourite girls’ Biblical names in no particular order:
[name]Hannah[/name] - but very popular.
[name]Naomi[/name] - I would absolutely use this [name]IRL[/name] if my married name didn’t rhyme with it in a terrible way.
[name]Yael[/name]/[name]Jael[/name] - I’ve seen it spelt either way and still pronounced Yah-el. I wouldn’t like it with a hard j though, rather jail-ish.
[name]Mara[/name] - Sad meaning, pretty name.
[name]Kezia[/name]/[name]Keziah[/name]/[name]Ketzia[/name] - I love this and its sweet meaning, but I do not like the Kez-EYE-ah pronunciation, only keh-zee-ah or keh-tzee-ah. It’s quite obscure compared to some of the others.
[name]Noa[/name] - Some people will think it sounds boyish but [name]Noa[/name] was a woman in Exodus and not to be confused with [name]Noah[/name].
My sister has [name]Abigail[/name] on her own list. It’s a bit too popular for me.
And in the [name]New[/name] Testament I’m fond of [name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Talitha[/name], and [name]Susannah[/name] as names, though I don’t know much about any of those three.
[name]Phoebe[/name] was ranked at 24 last year, only 2008 babies were named [name]Phoebe[/name]. [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Lily[/name] are all around 5000, and those are the names you hear everywhere. If you love [name]Phoebe[/name] I would go with that one!
I think it’s maybe because of the character [name]Rachel[/name] from Glee, the actress is called [name]Lea[/name] [name]Michele[/name]. Sorry if I’m wrong though.
[name]Leah[/name] and [name]Rachel[/name] were sisters in the bible. (for the person who asked why the name [name]Leah[/name] would honour [name]Rachel[/name])
Thanks, I was pretty impressed with DH and I with this. [name]Phoebe[/name] is a name we both love. [name]Eliza[/name] was his choice and [name]Fae[/name] was mine. So we ended up with 2 middles
Thanks for the suggestions.
[name]Charlotte[/name] - no-go there are already 2 charlotte’s in DH family with the same surname as us
[name]Hannah[/name] - over used in my circle
[name]Abigail[/name] - so many friends with this name. I really like [name]Avigail[/name] for a while (nn [name]Avie[/name]) but didn’t want to have to explain it to everyone
[name]Ruth[/name] - is it ok that I just think this is plain? It’s one of my fav women in the bible tho!
[name]Louise[/name]- I didn’t even know that was biblical, where from?
[name]Dinah[/name] reminds me of [name]Alice[/name]'s cat in [name]Alice[/name] in Wonderland [name]Lovely[/name] name though
As for [name]Louise[/name] - (my apologies, it’s [name]Lois[/name])
[name]Lois[/name]
Biblical name of the mother of [name]Eunice[/name] and grandmother of [name]Timothy[/name]. The etymology is uncertain, but it may have been derived from Greek loion, meaning desirable It is often wrongly connected with [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Eloise[/name].
