[name_m]Theo[/name_m], [name_m]Jude[/name_m], & Wesley/Wes are my favorites, but I really don’t have any negative feelings towards the others, either. It’s a really great, solid list!
I really love [name_m]Wes[/name_m] for you! I personally much prefer it to more common [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. It’s meaningful to you, not too common, easy to say/spell, it’s nice and short like trendier [name_m]Theo[/name_m], and I also love that his gentle yet cool vibe. I especially think as far as nicknames as full-names go, this one doesn’t feel overly cutesy which I like. I can definitely see it aging well as he grows. It’s also the only name on your list you don’t have a con listed next to.
As the previous poster said though, I actually don’t really dislike any of these. [name_m]Jude[/name_m] is one of my all time favorites and I have such a soft spot for Tobias…but if you hate [name_m]Toby[/name_m] maybe not
I also love [name_m]Theo[/name_m] but it is SO popular that I didn’t want it as a first name anymore. We did use [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] as a middle, though.
I think [name_m]Jude[/name_m] has also skyrocketed in popularity, too? I know of quite a few new Jude’s. It’s another I used to have on my list. I know several people who have used [name_m]Jude[/name_m] for their sons and all of them are… I don’t know. There is some commonality between all of these parents that I can’t pinpoint but it has made me less fond of the name.
I’m with you, I prefer just [name_m]Wes[/name_m] over [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] or [name_m]Weston[/name_m]. And I think it is just fine to use as a standalone name. There is also [name_m]Wells[/name_m]?
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] and would have never made a connection between the name and the expression s-o-l. I wouldn’t veto the name for that, personally.
[name_m]Wade[/name_m] might be a different style than your potentials, but it is almost a mishmash of [name_m]Jude[/name_m] and [name_m]Wes[/name_m]?
I’m partial to [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] as that’s our second son’s name! It has such a beachy/islander vibe. Never had the “s.o.l” come up at all in the 10 years he’s been alive. Definitely don’t let that sway you. We went with [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], but I love [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] or [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Theo[/name_m] for you!
[name_m]Theo[/name_m] - solid but sparky, it’s got energy and charm
[name_m]Jude[/name_m] - breezy, gentle and lovely
[name_m]Wes[/name_m] - cool, rugged and handsome - I like just [name_m]Wes[/name_m]!
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] - I think I like just [name_m]Wes[/name_m] best for you
[name_m]August[/name_m] - warm, lovely, strong but gentle. I wouldn’t automatically nickname, just stick with the full name
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] - gorgeous and elegant, playful sounds but sleek too. I love [name_m]Toby[/name_m], but if you don’t want it, [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] might not be the one
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] - so cool and elegant - peaceful and handsome and sincere. I’ve never actually heard any one use ‘S-o-l’ tbh (except in one song )
[name_f]My[/name_f] general advice is not to use a name with a traditional/common nickname you actively dislike. Wesley/Wes or [name_m]Soloman[/name_m] seem like the winners here.
