After my previous post about possible names my wife and I might both like, we got a lot of amazing names, and even some we both like! We also managed to find a couple of names we both like separately, and I discovered I actually like one of the names my wife suggested before. This is the list we’ve made of names we both like;

Also, I forgot to mention that I have a son named Edward William. I’m not fussed about the baby’s name ‘matching’ my son’s, but it does mean that all names that might lead to the nicknames Ted/Teddy, Ed/Eddy and Ned are out, because my son gets called all of them!

[name_u]August[/name_u] - I think this is my favourite in the sibset. It sounds fresh and sophisticated, plus [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is a great nickname!
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] - My second favourite; the only objection is that it sounds very Twilight… You may not care about that, though. Also, if you are planning to have more kids later you might feel ‘forced’ to continue the ‘E’ theme.
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] - I just think [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] sounds great with [name_m]Edward[/name_m]!
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] - Nickname [name_m]Luke[/name_m]? I like it!

[name_m]Edward[/name_m] is much older, as in pretty much an adult, so I don’t know how many people outside the family would ever see/hear their names together, so I don’t know if anybody would notice the ‘E’ and Twilight stuff in regards to [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], but it’s something we’ll have to consider anyway.
My wife’s not really a nickname person (except from with [name_m]Edward[/name_m]), so I don’t know if we’ll be using them, but [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is very cute for [name_u]August[/name_u].
My favourites are [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Silvan[/name_m], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. All of these fit well with [name_m]Edward[/name_m], even if he is almost an adult.
I also like [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m].
All in all, I think you have a wonderful list of solid choices. One of the best ways to narrow it down is to test the names. Pick one for each day and try saying it as often as you can, familiarising yourself with it or just the opposite, finding out you don’t like saying it 100 times a day. Because that’s what you’ll be doing for the rest of your lives more or less.
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m] is the only one that stands out, he lacks some refinement compared to the other names.
