My husband and I have been working on our girls name list. We have a short list of names that we both love. We would really appreciate any thoughts that you have about them and are also open to suggestions. Our last name is 3 syllables, starts with a “th” and ends with an “en.” We don’t want a name that is too popular or too uncommon. Okay, here are our favorites:
I would use [name]Livia[/name] or [name]Emilia[/name]. I know [name]Livia[/name] might get some “it’s not [name]Olivia[/name]” but I like it. [name]Emilia[/name] is a forbidden love of mine, so I love to see other people use it.
[name]Juliette[/name] is very elegant, romantic and a bit dramatic. [name]Livia[/name] and [name]Emilia[/name] are pretty, maybe you’d also like [name]Lavinia[/name]? [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Gabriella[/name] sound a bit harsh to me, sorry.
All of those are very beautiful names! I like your tastes. My favorite is [name]Juliette[/name] <3 it’s on my personal top 5 girls names as well. Violet is also a good choice, I’m a fan of color names. My least favorite would be Livia, just because it’s so close to the very popular name Olivia.
[name]Love[/name] love love [name]Violet[/name]!! It is such a beautiful, simple and uncommon name.
[name]Gabriella[/name] is lovely as well, makes me picture a gorgeous girl Not personally a fan of [name]Gaby[/name] for a nickname but I love [name]Ella[/name]. In fact, I really like [name]Ella[/name] as a full name as well. I love the combo [name]Gabriella[/name] [name]Violet[/name]/[name]Ella[/name] [name]Violet[/name]. Wdyt?
[name]Juliette[/name] is traditional and has endured the test of time. It’s a beautiful name that ages perfectly. Plus I have always been partial to the nickname [name]Jules[/name]/[name]Jewels[/name]. [name]Julianna[/name] is also very lovely. The name [name]Juliette[/name] should stand on it’s own so personally I prefer a shorter middle name especially since both your first and last name is 3 syllables. I think a longer last name would too much of a mouthful.
You didn’t mention anything in your thread about middle names. [name]Just[/name] curious, have you and your husband put together a list together for middle names? Or have you decided to use a family name?
Anyway, back to your list. I’m not a fan of [name]Livia[/name] at all, sorry. To me, it looks/sounds like [name]Olivia[/name] minus the O. I think most people would mishear it or just assume her full name was [name]Olivia[/name]. Never been a fan of O names on girls for some reason and also it’s way too popular for my taste.
I like [name]Emilia[/name] depending on how it’s pronounced. I like it pronounced [name]Emma[/name]-[name]LEE[/name]-[name]AH[/name]. If you’re going to pronounce it UH-MEAL-EE-[name]AH[/name], then I prefer the spelling [name]Amelia[/name]. I personally wouldn’t use this name for a little girl unless maybe it was a family name.
Here are some other names that I personally love and maybe you will too
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Maya[/name]
[name]Serena[/name]
[name]Hope[/name] I’ve been helpful. Good luck to you and your family
I think [name]Livia[/name] and [name]Emilia[/name] are both lovely and unique. [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Gabriella[/name] are rapidly increasing in popularity, and I prefer [name]Juliet[/name] over [name]Juliette[/name].
[name]Gabriella[/name] - I prefer [name]Gabrielle[/name], but that’s because it’s not as close to the -bella trend as [name]Gabriella[/name]. NN [name]Gabby[/name] is sweet too.
[name]Juliette[/name] - Not keen on this, never been big on any [name]Juli[/name]- names for some reason.
[name]Violet[/name] - Again, not keen on this, though I can’t explain why. It’s also rising in popularity.
[name]Livia[/name] - I think people will assume it’s a nickname for [name]Olivia[/name].
[name]Emilia[/name] - By far my favourite on your list, it’s gorgeous.
I don’t think you could go wrong with any of these names but I will give more specific feedback. I am kind of tired of the “[name]Em[/name]” names so [name]Emilia[/name] is my least favorite on your list. I think [name]Violet[/name] is becoming increasingly popular, I know two babies named that in last 18 months. As others have pointed out, [name]Livia[/name] may be mistaken for [name]Olivia[/name] but I do [name]LOVE[/name] the sound of [name]Livia[/name]. I like the nn [name]Gabi[/name] so [name]Gabriella[/name] seems like a good choice. [name]Juliette[/name] is also very pretty.
[name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name] would be my picks from your list. For much of the same reasons as previous posters. [name]Juliette[/name] is timeless and suits any age, its feminine without being frilly. I have always liked [name]Gabriella[/name] too.
I personally adore [name]Violet[/name], I love how it sounds and the images i get with that name. But like others have pointed out, its on the rise, big time. Where I live, there have been quite a few violets born recently (working in peds and obs i get a good look at the current trends in my own little area of the world). Its top 3 on my list for my own baby due in august (mostly due to husband’s insisting) but I’m really struggling with knowing there will be plenty other violets in her class, if i go with that choice.
Also, there a number of various [name]Olivia[/name] spin offs i see, like [name]Alivia[/name] and such. Thats what [name]Livia[/name] reminds me of. I do see the appeal of [name]Livia[/name], its a bit fresher than [name]Olivia[/name] and I love the nickname [name]Liv[/name]. [name]Livia[/name] is such a pretty name but to be honest it just gives me that same sort of negative feeling as names with “unique” spellings.
I personally really like [name]Viola[/name] as a less common alternative to [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Gabriella[/name]- Cute, but I feel like this is so overused.
[name]Juliette[/name]- Gorgeous!! Such a strong name and very romantic. I love this name very much:)
[name]Violet[/name]- I was actually thinking about naming my daughter this. I love this along with other nature/flower names. [name]Violet[/name] is beautiful, but I could never find a perfect pairing.
[name]Livia[/name]- I never really liked this name, especially because my name is [name]Olivia[/name]. I feel like people name their daughters [name]Livia[/name] because [name]Olivia[/name] is too popular now. In my opinion, stick to the basics.
[name]Emilia[/name]- Such a pretty and elegant name. If you pair it with a strong middle name, her name would be absolutely gorgeous;)
I am also not a fan of the nn [name]Gabby[/name], but I love the nn [name]Ella[/name]. We came across [name]Gabriella[/name] because my husband loves [name]Gabrielle[/name], which I do not care for as much. But we both like [name]Gabriella[/name]. I like the combo [name]Gabriella[/name] [name]Violet[/name]. It sounds very pretty to me.
[name]Juliette[/name] is definitely also a top contender for us. We like this spelling because it is the French variation and would honor a bit of our heritage. We have not come up with a middle name to pair with [name]Juliette[/name] but I agree that it should be short and sweet. We have talked about making sure that the name doesn’t end up being a mile long and too much of a mouth full!
I love name [name]Olivia[/name] but my husband wont go for it because of its popularity. I was thinking that [name]Livia[/name] might be a nice alternative and my husband does like it. But we also do have some reservations for the same reasons that others do; it’s not [name]Olivia[/name], could be mistaken as a nn for [name]Olivia[/name], etc… But I do think that it is a lovely name and is short and sweet.
[name]Emilia[/name] is the most recent addition to our favorites list and we both love it. I love the combo [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Violet[/name] but we aren’t set on any middle names yet. We go back in forth between wanting to use a family name or not. I think that it will end up depending on what name we choose for a first and how it ends up flowing with the family name or not.
My husband does not love [name]Violet[/name], he has others on the list that he likes much more as a first name. But he does really like it as a middle name. I think that it flows nicely with a few of our favorites so we might end up using it as a middle instead. Although, I do really like it as a first name, it’s beautiful!
Some family names we are considering are [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name] but we are not committed to using any of them.
I love the suggestion [name]Lila[/name], I actually mentioned this name to my husband last night. He isn’t sure how he feels about it yet but maybe it’ll end up on our list!
My favorites are [name]Emilia[/name] and [name]Violet[/name], but I also like [name]Juliette[/name]. [name]Livia[/name] is really close to [name]Olivia[/name], but still nice. [name]Gabriella[/name] is very popular.
I don’t hate any of the names and don’t love any of them either. I like the nickname [name]Gabi[/name] but not the nickname [name]Julie[/name]. [name]Emilia[/name] is a fresh take on [name]Emily[/name] but almost sounds made up. [name]Violet[/name] is a beautiful color and a sweet name. [name]Livia[/name] sounds like you forgot the o at the beginning but [name]Liv[/name] is cute.
