I’m expecting in [name]November[/name] 2013, and today, we found out it will be a baby boy. We were in complete agreement about two girl names, but we’ve had a harder time settling on a name (or two) for a boy. Here’s our list so far. I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas for other name possibilities!
Lately [name]Leo[/name] has been really appealing to me
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Miller[/name] a bit surname a bit old southern charm just love
[name]William[/name] is one of the few classes I really connect with though I prefer [name]William[/name] to [name]Liam[/name]!
[name]Nathaniel[/name] is very striking and it doesn’t hurt my first crush was my older brother best friend [name]Nate[/name]. Reminds me of a gorgeous curly headed boy with dimples can’t go wrong there
[name]Henry[/name] - I like but it does strike me as very formal.
[name]Leo[/name] - Nice, reminds me of [name]Leo[/name] di Caprio and I think of a very handsome wearer of this name
[name]Linus[/name] - I never know how to say this, [name]Line[/name]-us or [name]Lynn[/name]-us?
[name]Lionel[/name] - Actually quite like this too, and you could use nn [name]Leo[/name] with it too.
[name]Nathaniel[/name] - Like but prefer [name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Miller[/name] - Not my cup of tea, plus I know a girl who goes by this (her surname) so I struggle to see it on a boy
[name]Oscar[/name] - Like this too
[name]Samuel[/name] - Gorgeous, my favourite
[name]Seamus[/name] - I think would only work if you had Irish heritage. Not sure about having ‘shame’ in the name though.
[name]Sean[/name] - Nice, much prefer this spelling.
[name]Solon[/name] - Never heard this before, makes me think of [name]Colon[/name] though/
[name]William[/name] ([name]Liam[/name]) - Like [name]William[/name] but prefer nn [name]Will[/name], [name]Liam[/name]'s become quite chavvy in my area which is why.
[name]Henry[/name] - love. classic and so cute for a little boy.
[name]Leo[/name] - love.
[name]Linus[/name] - cute, in a nerdy kind of way.
[name]Lionel[/name] - dislike. hate the sound. much prefer [name]Linus[/name].
[name]Nathaniel[/name] - love the full name, but dislike [name]Nate[/name].
[name]Miller[/name] - meh.
[name]Oscar[/name] - cute.
[name]Samuel[/name] - [name]Samuel[/name] is just ok to me, but I love [name]Sam[/name]!
[name]Seamus[/name] - great name, like pp said, if you are Irish.
[name]Sean[/name] - also a great name, but so common. I would go for [name]Seamus[/name] before this.
[name]Solon[/name] - dislike. too close to colon.
[name]William[/name] ([name]Liam[/name]) - love. [name]William[/name] is my favorite classic name, and [name]Liam[/name] is one of my all time favorites, I don’t care how popular it is!
Top 5: [name]Henry[/name], [name]Leo[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Seamus[/name], [name]William[/name] nn [name]Liam[/name].
My husband actually is almost 100% Irish and I have a bit of Irish ancestry, but we live in the US, so that’s why I’m not 100% sure about [name]Seamus[/name], even though I do really like it and prefer it to [name]Sean[/name]. And I definitely wouldn’t want to spell it “Shaymus” or “[name]Shamus[/name]”.
essjay, we’d pronounce “[name]Linus[/name]” as “line-us”.
[name]Miller[/name] and [name]Solon[/name] are family names, and I’d never even thought of the fact that [name]Solon[/name] sounds like “colon” Good to keep in mind.
The girls names we’d settled on were [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Clara[/name].
