[name]Hi[/name] there! My name is [name]Maggie[/name] and I’m new to Nameberry. I’m so glad I’ve found y’all though because my husband and I are expecting our third baby and we need some help narrowing down our lists (though suggestions are welcome as well!) We have a son named [name]James[/name] [name]Sheldon[/name] (III, he goes by [name]Tripp[/name]), who is named for his dad and granddad, and a daughter named [name]Mercy[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] (middle name is after and me and my grandmother). We’ve currently got a top ten for both gender, as we’re keeping it a surprise! I’d love thoughts/opinions/suggestions/etc. We like names that are vintage and a bit unusual. If it helps, we live in Southeast US and our surname is Abernathy. The middle name will be a family name.

Thanks for your help!
With [name]Tripp[/name] and [name]Mercy[/name] out of your list i like the best
[name]Tripp[/name], [name]Mercy[/name] , and [name]Thatcher[/name]
and
[name]Tripp[/name] , [name]Mercy[/name] , and [name]Olive[/name]
Names i think would also go with your type of names:
Girls
[name]Selma[/name]
Calyx
[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Tallulah[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
Boys
[name]Ross[/name]
[name]Hollis[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name]
[name]Beckett[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Jackson[/name]
I [name]LOVE[/name] all your choices! But I’ll do my best to help you narrow down your list, though really you can’t go wrong
Girls:
[name]Evangeline[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] this name, but for me it feels off with your last name
[name]Lydia[/name]- I think [name]Lydia[/name] & [name]Mercy[/name] are would be adorable sisters! the only drawbacks to this name is 1) [name]Lydia[/name] is definitely rising in popularity, & 2) the ‘a’ ending and ‘A’ beginning of your last name kind of run in to each other
[name]Tabitha[/name]- Adorable name, but with your ln it has a lot of ‘a’ & ‘th’ sounds
[name]Emeline[/name]- This fits well with your sibset, and flows with your ln
[name]Imogen[/name]- Not a bad option, but not my fave from your list
[name]Mabel[/name]- Definitely prefer this spelling, [name]Maebelle[/name] seems to frilly when paired w/ your other kids. [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Mabel[/name] but you would then have two names starting with ‘M’ which I think is fine, just something to consider
[name]Eulalie[/name]- Cute
[name]Olive[/name]My favorite from your list, I think it works well in your sibset & your ln. And I think [name]Mercy[/name] & [name]Olive[/name] make adorable sisters!
[name]Opal[/name] - Cute, but for some reason when I say it, it kinda slurs together w/ your ln
[name]Martha[/name]- Though I like this name, it’s probably my least favorite from your list. It just seems really heavy when compared to [name]Mercy[/name]
Boys:
[name]Bartholomew[/name] / [name]Barton[/name] “[name]Bart[/name]”-Ok, very southern esp. when paired w/ Abernathy
[name]Shepherd[/name]-[name]LOVE[/name]!
[name]Harrison[/name]-Ok, feels slightly dated to me
[name]Arthur[/name]-[name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Arthur[/name], but again it would be a lot of ‘a’ & ‘th’ sounds
[name]Chester[/name]-I think this is cute, but I feel it might be hard for a child to pull off
[name]Barrett[/name]-Ok, feels slightly dated to me, maybe because of it’s similarity to [name]Garrett[/name]?
[name]Augustus[/name] “[name]Gus[/name]”-cute
[name]Thatcher[/name]-I think it’d work with [name]Tripp[/name], but not my favorite
[name]Winthrop[/name]-I think this has all the charm of [name]Chester[/name], but with less teasing potential, but that could just be me…
[name]Edward[/name] “[name]Ted[/name]” or “[name]Ned[/name]”-Classic & adorable
Like I said I love all your choices, hope this helps!
