Less than 10 days before our baby boy is here and we still have no idea what to name him! I recently got great ideas from these forums, now I need honest opinions on these names! Please let me know what you think of these names and how useable they would be on a boy, and which you would use!! I have no set style of names, but originally wanted something masculine, a little different, possibly with a good nickname, and a name that he wouldn’t be teased over. Thanks so much for your help!
My favorites are [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. I dislike [name_m]Troy[/name_m], [name_m]Colton[/name_m], [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] and [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]. These are just preferences, there’s nothing objectionable about any of the names. Good luck!
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] ~ love ~ its a classic name that’s also a nn in its own right but wearable as a given name~ [name_m]Charles[/name_m] looks very nice on paper and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is an easy nn if you’re looking for something that that can be done with
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] ~ very boy, there won’t be teasing, is an astrological sign too if you’re into that but the baby won’t be a [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] = lion, very solid name
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] ~ solid and all boy, depending where you live fairly underused. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] would likely be more widely recognized but [name_m]Otto[/name_m] is fun.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] ~ I hear this name us ‘unisex’ now but I still feel very boyish vibes with it. Very handsom and I feel like everyone loves it.
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] ~ never been my cup of tea, [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is the obvious nn or [name_f]Amy[/name_f] which are both popular female names. I don’t dislike it perse but I would not use it unless it was love.
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m] - very solid, [name_m]Cas[/name_m] is coming back in a big way I think. [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] could come off this as well, that’s more feminine to me but its definitely usable if it goes well with the child’s surname and you think he can pull it off
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] ~ very strong, I’ve seen it around but its still pretty rarely used and very handsome. I would vote this the best [name_m]Cas[/name_m]- name hands down. <3
Hudson - good strong and all boy. -son names are pretty popular, the hudson is a body of water in NYC I believe? Its not common - I prefer Holden as far as similar names.
Griffin - a griffin being a mythical creature makes this name very powerful and all boy, its a fairly fierce thing and I hear this one a lot. I have a second cousin Griffin and he loves it. Its very well received.
Troy- I always think of well- Troy - if you have a connection and no one named Helen its a boy name, very peppy if you ask me. I remember it on a young man in a book once and he was very ‘cool’ so that impression stuck I think
Wesley - I’ve always liked this, the princess bride connection is imprinted in my mind there. A friends son is Wesley and he’s dear. I hear it around and have nothing bad to say about it but I don’t think ‘very manly’ when I hear it and I can see it on a girl and it actually would be really cute I think.
Corbin- the only time I have heard it was in the fifth element ~ fun scifi movie from the 90s and he was a mans man for sure. But I know A LOT of Corey’s and only ever met one that was a female, the rest are all male, Corey will be a potential nn. And I like it but there are a lot if names in your list.
Theo - same as with Leo accept I like it more actually. It means ‘God’ Theodore meaning ‘Gift from God’ I have a friend who just had a baby called this and everyone loves it, they live in another country from us at the moment and it translates nicely. Its a winner. And the long version is also a given name option.
Colton - very western- I can see cowboy boots in the American southwest, I like it, fun and fresh. Lots if use but Colt is a great nn, very boy, no teasing potential.
Sailor- I wouldn’t use this, sailor moon - a girl character adults tell me they go right too… Or some weird comments I got on this when I asked a few people once if it would make a good given name. Its an occupational name though and they’re very popular. But not my top vote.
Congrats on making it to this point and happy naming- hope this helped a bit.

I vote for [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] ” swoon!
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m] is on my short list. I love it! I would use the nickname [name_m]Cash[/name_m]. And [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] reminds me of The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Bride[/name_f].
My faves from your list are [name_m]Colton[/name_m] and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. I don’t really care for either [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] or [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], unless they are used in the mn position. The rest of your names are just fine, I think any of them will be wonderful as first names, don’t worry!
Charlie – Like this one a lot. Very handsome and classic. Leo – Great name and strong meaning.

I love [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and my hubby won’t let me use it, so that’s my vote. That being said, [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] have also made my list, and my adorable nephew is is [name_m]Colton[/name_m]. He’s a great kid. You have a lot of good options there!
Thank you everyone for responding and for your thoughts and opinions! Boy names are so hard! This is my first boy after 2 beautiful girls, and I can’t believe how much harder he is to name! I just can’t picture ANY name on him lol!! Can’t wait to update everyone on what we chose after we leave the hospital! Thanks again everyone
That’s an awesome combo Never thought of combining them! (And on my first date with my husband he admitted his love for the movie the [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Bride[/name_f], never realized that name was in the movie!!)
I’ll just leave a few comments, since others have made good points about most of these already. Ones in bold are my favorites.
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]- really popular right now. As long as you wouldn’t mind him being “[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] B.” (or whatever your last initial is) in school
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]-also fairly popular, but I like it [name_m]Otto[/name_m]- nice, very masculine
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]-I like it, but it’s used on a lot of girls these days
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]- my personal favorite from this list
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Troy[/name_m]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Corbin[/name_u]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]Colton[/name_m]
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u]-I know a girl with this name, so I tend to picture it as a girls’ name
Another thing you might want to consider is what criteria are most important to you in a name: ability to have a nickname? uniqueness? sound? honoring a family member or place? That could help you rule out a few.
