We are considering this name for our little girl due in just a few weeks. I wanted to get a test reaction to it before we get to the delivery room. We have a few names picked out and will decide once we see her little face, but I definitely wanted to know what kind of girl you see growing up with this name…
I love the name [name]Paisley[/name]. However, not paired with [name]Mae[/name]. I don’t like the repeated long A sound. If you are set on the middle name [name]Mae[/name] (which I love too) I think your other choices are gorgeous! [name]Isla[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is my favorite from your list with [name]Eva[/name] [name]Mae[/name] second I’m sure you will know when your baby arrives!
I really dont care for [name]Paisley[/name]. It sounds kinda flimsy and weak imho. Plus, it makes me think of [name]Brad[/name] [name]Paisley[/name]. The other names are your list are very lovely and strong, I just dont see [name]Paisley[/name] really fitting with them. Have you considered using it as a mn? Maybe [name]Isla[/name] [name]Paisley[/name]?
[name]Paisley[/name] honestly just reminds me of the ugly pattern from the 60s. I think [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] are much prettier choices that will age better, too. A 40 year old named [name]Paisley[/name] would kind of scare me.
I’m not in love with [name]Paisley[/name], but I certainly don’t think it is terrible. Of your choices, [name]Eva[/name] [name]Mae[/name] ([name]Eva[/name] [name]May[/name]?) is my favorite, but, honestly, [name]Mae[/name] really isn’t a favorite of mine, at all. I can handle it spelled as [name]May[/name], but I wouldn’t recommend it with [name]Paisley[/name]. Together, [name]Paisley[/name] and [name]Mae[/name] make for a very cutesy, young combination, and I don’t get a sense of elegance and sophistication from the name. Now, maybe that isn’t important to you, but it is something that I personally look for in a name. I don’t know if your last name works best with a one-syllable middle name, but, honestly, I’d use an established classic, along these lines:
Oh! I forgot to add something to my post! Yes, of course the first thing that comes to mind when I think of [name]Paisley[/name] is the fabric pattern, but, I bet if I met your daughter, I’d start thinking of her. In my mind, [name]Paisley[/name] is a sweet little girl with red-brown curls, a little button nose, and a bright smile on her face. She’s a sassy trouble-maker who likes to rough-house and run outside, but she can also be devastatingly adorable when giving in to her girlish side, playing “house” and baking cookies with mommy. So, that’s my vision of [name]Paisley[/name]!
I like [name]Paisley[/name] as a name, but I agree with other comment that the double long A sound in “[name]Paisley[/name] [name]Mae[/name]” ruins it for me here. I can only hear it in a very twangy, nasal voice. : (
But, I do like your other alternatives, too. My favorite is your DH’s pick – [name]Natalie[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. I like its rhythm and flow the best.
If you’re not quite in love with it yourself, how about [name]Natalia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]?
The A ending softens it a bit and makes it more like [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Isla[/name], while the [name]Natalie[/name] essentially stays in tact.
Also, how are you pronouncing [name]Eva[/name]? Is is ‘[name]Eve[/name]-[name]Ah[/name]’ with a long E or ‘Ay-vah’ with a long A?
I think that if it’s [name]Eva[/name] with a long A, that the repetition of the long A sound in [name]Eva[/name] [name]Mae[/name] comes off twangy to me, like [name]Paisley[/name] [name]Mae[/name].
Anyway, I just love [name]Mae[/name] (esp with that spelling) as a mn. Best of luck!
[name]Paisley[/name] is nice just not with [name]Mae[/name] as a middle name. I am a little thrown off by your list as [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] are very pop, while natalie is a classic and [name]Paisley[/name] is out of left field. [name]Just[/name] make sure you really love [name]Paisley[/name] enough to use it for the rest of your daughters life.
Really not a fan of it, but I don’t like the fabric pattern, so that kind of skewed my view of the name. The best I could come up with for teasing is pasty or pasties.
Maybe give a middle name that can stand on its own to give her options?
I love [name]Paisley[/name] for a little girl myself, but i cant get past the thought “what if she wanted to be someone very corporate?” I dont think [name]Paisley[/name] would be great at the top of a resume. I still love it though and I am considering it as a middle name that my daughter could go by (if it fit and she liked it growing up) but then use her “real” name if she ever decided to be something super business-y.
I love [name]Eva[/name], [name]Isla[/name], and [name]Natalie[/name], but I really don’t like [name]Paisley[/name]. It’s a word name and a surname, which makes it likely to become dated in the future. It also has a very cutesy sound-- I can’t really imagine President [name]Paisley[/name] [name]Smith[/name], or whatever the last name is. The other names on your list are beautiful, though, which brings up another issue-- if you have another daughter after a [name]Paisley[/name], it should probably fit the same general style, which I don’t think the others have. More suggestions:
[name]Paisley[/name] is “ok,” but it does remind me of fabric.
I love the middle name [name]Mae[/name]. My grandmother’s name was [name]Iva[/name] [name]Mae[/name], which is similar to [name]Eva[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. The problem with [name]Eva[/name] is the pronunciation. Would it be a Spanish one like “[name]Ava[/name]” or like “[name]Eve[/name]-a”? People would always be saying it wrong either way.
