Thoughts on Penn?

While coming up for a few names for a recent new story idea (my most successful as of late, huzzah!) I came across the name [name]Penn[/name], which I have been aware of but never really thought much about.

I’m falling in love with it, though I don’t know if that’s falling in love with the character who I have given the name to. It seems soft (a quality I like in a boy name) but stands on its own, and its ending seems definite to me even though there aren’t any strong sounds in it.

Anyway, what do you all think of [name]Penn[/name]? (And, to a lesser extent, the character name I am using, just for fun-- first name and middle name is [name]Penn[/name] [name]Miller[/name].)

I love the name [name]Penn[/name]! I think it is a great character name choice as well. It is soft yet masculine at the same time

I like it! It seems sensitive and likeable, very down to earth and friendly. Then again, I think I’m destined to love it–I’m a writer from Pennsylvania. [name]How[/name] could I not love [name]Penn[/name]?! I also like the idea of [name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Pen/name. [name]Pen[/name] seems more feminine; [name]Penn[/name] more masculine. Ironically, I don’t like [name]Penny[/name], but I do love just [name]Pen[/name] on a girl.

sorry, no.

Main reason:

[name]Penn[/name] is …

penis

I have never heard “penn” used as a term for male anatomy, and I am friends with many former fraternity boys with no filter. Is it a British thing? Or is that just what the first three letters remind you of?

I really like [name]Penn[/name]. I find it masculine and strong without being intimidating or macho.

I’ve never heard it used as a term for the male anatomy either, but if whenever you talk about a person using their name you end up saying the name of the male organ that seems like tempting fate among the pre-teen boy population. [name]Just[/name] my opinion.

I actually quite like it! I think it’s more suited to the middle spot, but that’s just me. It makes me think of the actor [name]Penn[/name] Badgely. I also quite like the female [name]Penna[/name]!

I did, too. But even if [name]Penn[/name] wasn’t easily turned into Penis, I still wouldn’t care for it. Extra N or not, it has all the appeal of being called Crayon or Stencil. Which is to say, not much at all.
