Thoughts on Pepper Scott?

I would use [name]Pepper[/name] as a nickname for [name]Priscilla[/name].

I’ve known so many dogs named [name]Pepper[/name], there is currently one living across the street, and I have 2 FB friends with four legged '[name]Pepper[/name]'s, so I could never think of it on a person! I also don’t care for word names that get used in conversion alot, people say ‘hope’ alot, I don’t like it as a name, same with things like [name]River[/name], and [name]Sky[/name]. I don’t usually like boy names on girls, unless it ties in to the family some how, then I think it’s adorable, so I love your use of [name]Scott[/name]! [name]Hope[/name] I’m not being all negative, I’m a really picky namer.

All that said, I really like [name]Priscilla[/name] [name]Scott[/name]!!

[name]Pepper[/name] [name]Scott[/name] definitely leans masculine (perhaps more than you’d like). I would have no idea whether to expect a boy or a girl if I were a teacher and saw this name on my roster. [name]Priscilla[/name] [name]Scott[/name] is nice because it pairs a very feminine name with a masculine one (which it sounds like may be closer to what you’re looking to do). [name]Pepper[/name] is a fun name, but stick with a clearly feminine middle name if you use it as a first name. [name]Pepper[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is a nice combo I’ve heard before.

I really love the name [name]Pepper[/name]! Although I might be biased, as it is what my grandparents call me (my grandfather called me Chilipepper when I was in the womb, and later it was shortened and stuck). [name]Pepper[/name] [name]Scott[/name] does sound a little abrupt to me, and not decidedly female. What I would suggest is perhaps using [name]Pepper[/name] as a nn (I’ve always adored it as a nn for [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Prudence[/name], [name]Philippa[/name]) for a longer, more traditionally feminine name. Alternately, since [name]Scott[/name] is fairly short, you could always add another middle name (maybe to honor a female family member, too?). I just know that I’ve had some friends who have been unusually middle-named in honor of someone, and sometimes they can get a little shy about it - one girl I know only had a letter as her mn! It was L or R or something, and people were always asking what it was short for!

That said, I think it’s great naming kids in honor of relatives. I, myself, am named for my grandfather (and grandmother) - [name]Sydney[/name] [name]Kaye[/name] - and it’s something I’ve come to really appreciate. I probably wouldn’t suggest altering [name]Scott[/name] to be more feminine (i.e. [name]Scotty[/name], [name]Scotti[/name], Scottlyn, whatever), but I suppose choosing a similar [name]Scott[/name]-esque name to pay homage is always an option, too ([name]Scotia[/name], [name]Scout[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name]). Good luck to you with whatever you choose!

[name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Pepper[/name] is a great idea!

Edited for privacy.

I like the [name]Priscilla[/name] [name]Scott[/name] better than [name]Pepper[/name] [name]Scott[/name] as well. I’m a huge fan of [name]Piper[/name]! But DH won’t go for it because of our last name (ends up sounding like a cartoon).

[name]Pepper[/name] [name]Scott[/name] sounds too much like [name]Pepper[/name] Pot to me…
I love [name]Priscilla[/name] and the nn [name]Prisca[/name]!

To me, [name]Pepper[/name] [name]Scott[/name] sounds like the name of a character from a comic book/novel/movie, not a real person. I have trouble taking [name]Pepper[/name] seriously as a full name. It sounds very cutesy nicknamey to me and I agree with others that it would be better to go with either [name]Priscilla[/name] or [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Scott[/name] and use [name]Pepper[/name] as a nickname.

I think that [name]Pepper[/name] suggests someone who is spunky and outgoing. If your kid turns out to be an introvert, the name will be rather hard to carry

It is unisex ([name]Nathan[/name] [name]Lane[/name]'s character on the show “Modern Family” is named [name]Pepper[/name]), but a lot of names are these days.

I agree with historymajor2013. My dog’s name growing up was [name]Pepper[/name], and he was a great dog, but still…
I love the alternative, [name]Priscilla[/name] [name]Scott[/name] though. Good luck!
