My DH decided on the name [name]Piper[/name] for our daughter, and he insists that he’s not changing his mind (I named our son, so it’s his turn, and I don’t hate the name [name]Piper[/name] – it’s fine). BUT… he had once suggested the name [name]Pepper[/name] (think [name]Pepper[/name] Potts of Iron [name]Man[/name] and you’ll see why this name would appeal to a grown man haha!) and I immediately said no way. The name is growing on me now though. What do you berries think?
This is probably the only name that I could get him to change to. I still wish he’d let me name her [name]Violet[/name] or [name]Caroline[/name], but he says no way on those.
BTW… her middle name would be [name]Lorelei[/name] and we already have a son named [name]Boston[/name].
[name]Pepper[/name], to me personally, sounds like a dog’s name. I’m sorry!! I have met several dogs named [name]Pepper[/name]. I love the name [name]Piper[/name] though! [name]Pepper[/name] is also really hard to see on an adult for me. Like Dr. [name]Pepper[/name] Lastname- I just don’t see it. I’m sorry!
I think that [name]Piper[/name] and [name]Boston[/name] go together wonderfully! [name]Love[/name] [name]Boston[/name] by the way!
Ha! I was going to mention that I’ve known of two cats named [name]Pepper[/name]. Definitely a cutesy animal name–sorry!
[name]Piper[/name] is cute. I like [name]Caroline[/name] better! Maybe you can keep working on him!
I think it’s great as a nickname! Especially for another P-name.

I would go with [name]Piper[/name] and nickname her [name]Pepper[/name], which I think would be adorable.
Good luck!
haha. My husband suggested [name]Pepper[/name] too. yes from the Iron [name]Man[/name] movie. I said no to it. I would be worried about the reaction it would get. maybe for a middle name though.
I actually work with a couple that is considering [name]Pepper[/name] for their daughter (other option is [name]Rory[/name]). I was very surprised by their choice, but I can’t say I don’t like it. I think its cute, spunky, friendly and happy but for me its better as a n.n. (to be honest, I’m not a fan of [name]Piper[/name] unless its a n.n. as well - I try to picture the name on their Resume when their an adult).
Names with [name]Pepper[/name] as a possible n.n:
[name]Penelope[/name] “[name]Pepper[/name]” ([name]Boston[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name])
[name]Persephone[/name] “[name]Pepper[/name]” ([name]Boston[/name] and [name]Persephone[/name])
[name]Paloma[/name] “[name]Pepper[/name]” ([name]Boston[/name] and [name]Paloma[/name])
[name]Juniper[/name] “[name]Pepper[/name]” ([name]Boston[/name] and [name]Juniper[/name])
[name]Philippa[/name] “[name]Pepper[/name]” ([name]Boston[/name] and [name]Philippa[/name])
[name]Temperance[/name] “[name]Pepper[/name]” ([name]Boston[/name] and [name]Temperance[/name])

Oooh. [name]Love[/name] suggestions from previous poster!
As for [name]Pepper[/name]. I think this is largely viewed as a dog/cat name. Use it (or not so much) with that warning in mind. Perhaps it is fresh as a name for a child, but for your grey minature poodle, I’m afraid it’s a cliche. But other names have made the move from the pet world to the human world, for example [name]Peaches[/name] Geldof. People are considering [name]Gigi[/name] of [name]Fifi[/name] for little girls. So it can be done.
[name]Just[/name] keep in mind, you might encounter some remarks such as, "[name]Ah[/name] yes. We just put down our minature schnauzer, [name]Pepper[/name]!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Pippa[/name]?
I had a cat named [name]Pepper[/name] growing up! I think that’s a name that has pretty much gone to the pets. [name]Piper[/name] is darling, though, and if you could talk your dh into a more formal name with [name]Piper[/name], [name]Pepper[/name] or [name]Pippa[/name] as a nn, that would be the best of both worlds. Excellent suggestions above, hope one of them works for you. Good luck!
[name]Pepper[/name] make me think of on of the orphans from ‘[name]Annie[/name]’. I can’t imagine an adult named [name]Pepper[/name].
[name]Piper[/name] is cute, not my style but I do like it.
If you like [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] maybe you like [name]Philippa[/name]? [name]Pippa[/name] for short? That’s pretty close to [name]Piper[/name] and [name]Pepper[/name] and more traditional and feminine like [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name]?
[name]Hope[/name] I helped
Sorry, not a fan.
[name]Piper[/name] is great I think.
[name]Piper[/name] is a cute name, but I agree with the other comments that “[name]Pepper[/name]” seems better suited for pets or move characters. Sadly, the only real-life [name]Pepper[/name] I’ve ever encountered was a quirky, mentally unstable homeless woman from my hometown who smoked cigarette butts off the ground… not the greatest name association!
I love [name]Pepper[/name]. very cute. I think it makes a nice nickname for [name]Penelope[/name] or [name]Juniper[/name] as already suggested.
[name]Pippa[/name] or [name]Piper[/name] are cute too and stand well on their own. good luck!
[name]Pepper[/name] was my number 1 name about 3-4 years ago for a little girl. I was really excited when i saw it on Iron [name]Man[/name] and then a character on Australia’s neighbours began to lessen its appeal…but then my cousin named her pet rabbit [name]Pepper[/name]!
Dum Dum. If you do not know any one with an animal named [name]Pepper[/name] then I say go for it.
It has a mysterious, spicy almost allure it makes you think of someone fun and individual. Yet it is Girly and cute too.
[name]Piper[/name] makes me think of the T.V. show charmed. But also has feeling of a historical or etherial nature.
I know a little 1-year-old named [name]Pepper[/name] and I’ve always thought it didn’t quite fit. I know two little girls named [name]Piper[/name]/[name]Pyper[/name]. I think [name]Piper[/name] translates better to an adult name. But I like a lot of the suggestions on the blog. Maybe if you found a name that you could get the nickname [name]Piper[/name], or [name]Pepper[/name] out of…
I think we’re going to stick with [name]Piper[/name]. I really like a lot of the suggestions for nicknames, but the problem is that my DH won’t approve long names. Pretty much if it’s more than 6 or 7 letters and 2 syllables then he’ll say no. He won’t even consider it for the length.
But thank you all for the suggestions!
My boyfriend also likes the names [name]Pepper[/name] & [name]Piper[/name] for a girl. I like them too–I think they sound energetic & upbeat!!
Best!
I think [name]Pepper[/name] is really cute, but I think [name]Piper[/name] is probably a better name to grow with.
Calling her [name]Pepper[/name] for a nickname would be adorable!
