I LOVE the name Philippa lately. I think it’s so unique and has a lot of cute nicknames like pip, pippa, and even Philip, which I think would be adorable on a little girl. I asked my friend and she said it sounded like a Hispanic mans name. It doesn’t make sense to me though because it’s Greek. What do you think?
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
I like it in theory. I like [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] & don’t mind [name_u]Pip[/name_u]. [name_m]Philip[/name_m] for a girl seems kind of weird to me. I wonder if [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] or [name_u]Penny[/name_u] would work? [name_u]Or[/name_u] even [name_f]Polly[/name_f]. But back to [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]. I think it’s unique & kind of spunky. The only thing that I don’t like about it is that I don’t know where to put the inflection of syllables. Is it PHIL-ippa or Phil-IPPa? Neither sounds wrong or right, & it just makes it feel awkward.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this rambling helps.
Iv heard of other people being confused with the syllables too. To me it would be Phil-i-ppa
Such a pretty name! [name_u]Love[/name_u] all the nicknames too It feels very [name_f]English[/name_f] to me, but I don’t think that matters too much?
I love [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]! It’s so cute and pretty. I also have a friend named [name_f]Philippa[/name_f].
I like it! It makes me think of [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables, and I love the nn “Pippa”.
I like it. The meaning is cute.
Totally love it! [name_u]Peppy[/name_u] and sophisticated with a bunch of great nicknames. [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_u]Pip[/name_u] are my personal favourites, maybe also [name_u]Pepper[/name_u]?
This is a name I really enjoy but don’t think I would get to use. I love the vintage feel and how it feels so glamorous
[name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] is cute and elegant! I like it a lot. It doesn’t make me think of a boys name - it has a British feel to me.
it doesn’t sound like a man’s name to me at all! a really lovely name, and i love the nickname options - even philip!
I love [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], though I prefer [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f]! [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_u]Pip[/name_u] are adorable nicknames, always, and I don’t see it as a man’s name at all.
Also, the vast majority of male Latinate/Spanish derived names wouldn’t end in an “a”; that’s the feminine names. [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] is the feminization of [name_m]Philip[/name_m]!
I love it! It’s a beautiful, feminine, sweet and elegant name. [name_f]Filipa[/name_f], a variation of [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], is a timeless name where I live.
I adore [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], especially with [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_u]Pip[/name_u] as nicknames! It doesn’t sound Hispanic to me, but maybe because it ends in -a your friend thinks so?
Anyway, it’s a lovely name.
I really like [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]! It doesn’t remind me of a Hispanic man’s name.
I think it’s a beautiful name! It isn’t for me personally but I totally see the appeal and love to see others loving it! Definitely doesn’t sound like a Hispanic man’s name!!
I like that name, it has a regal feeling to it, probably because I think about [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] of Hainault or [name_f]Lady[/name_f] [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] in [name_m]Ken[/name_m] Follett’s novel World Without End haha
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] feels slightly outdated here in the UK it was very 70s-90s. I LOVE [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] though. With no connection to horses myself I just wish it had a nicer meaning.
It’s unique and classic at the same time- right up my alley, frankly. And nickname options are great!
I love [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]. I would definitely use it. It has a very British vibe to me
