Thoughts on Rhiannon?

I love the name Rhiannon and have done for a while. However, I’m a bit concerned about people thinking she is named after singer Rihanna, when in reality I just love the name.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Is it a write off? Or useable?

Gorgeous name with gorgeous meaning.

I don’t think most people will make a connection to Rihanna (even though I know she pronounces the first A the same same as Rhiannon, the majority of people I know don’t say it the same way) let alone think they’re named after her. Definitely usable to me as an Irish American in New York!

Use it! [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] has a unique and majestic feel that I absolutely love, and it’s just a beautiful name. Plus, I would have never made a connection to [name_f]Rihanna[/name_f], and I don’t think most people would have either. It definitely works for me!

I love it, I went to highschool with one too, so to me it’s not that unusual, just not common

I have to disagree with other posters! I think it would get confused with [name_f]Rihanna[/name_f] a lot.

I really like the idea of [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], its a very magical sounding name. However I have a hard time remembering how to say it lol.

Its definitely usable but probably will face some challenges.

Wonderful name with a powerful namesake! I think it will be getting confused with [name_f]Rihanna[/name_f] by some people, but every name faces challenges, so don’t let it stop you from using the name you love :tulip:

Thank you everyone. It is still one of my favourites and I love it’s meaning. I think I’ll keep it on my list for now  I suppose there’s going to be someone famous with most names!

Its a beautiful name! I associate it more with the [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] [name_m]Mac[/name_m] song, and didn’t even think of [name_f]Rhianna[/name_f] so I think you’re ok on that front.

I don’t associate the name Rhiannon with Rihanna at allllll! They seem like such different names (and vibes) to me! I like Rhiannon - it’s unique but not unpronounceable, and it has lots of cute pet name opportunities (Annie, Rhia, Anna…)!

I’ve met two Rhiannons and I didn’t assume they were named after the singer

I don’t know that singer. To me, it is [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] [name_m]Mac[/name_m] and [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] Nicks.

I love [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], and would NEVER associate it with [name_f]Rihanna[/name_f], it’s all [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] Nicks to me!

I think you might get the occasional “Rihanna” confusion, but I don’t think it will be that big of an issue, and I definitely don’t think it makes [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] unusable!
Like others have said, my first association with the name is with the [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] [name_m]Mac[/name_m] song. :orange_heart:

I’ve actually known a couple girls named [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]! One is my age and one would be around 14 by now. I don’t recall any of them ever getting confused with [name_f]Rihanna[/name_f], especially because, as you pointed out, most people say the singer’s name wrong. I also don’t recall any of them having issues with pronunciation, and I had the older one in a few of my classes in high school.

[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is gorgeous! I don’t associate it with the singer at all personally, and I think it’s totally usable.

[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is wonderful. Majestic, regal, strong and interesting. I love [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] [name_m]Mac[/name_m] so that is the overriding musical association for me; [name_f]Rihanna[/name_f] is a completely different name and I wouldn’t have made the connection.
