Thoughts on Rosemary

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] has recently become one of my favorite girls name, and if you told me that a year ago, I would have thought you were crazy! I had always associated it as an “old-lady” name. The only women named [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] I knew were all grandmas. But, it really has been growing on me recently, and I just think it is so beautiful.

I absolutely love [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and I’m not wild about [name_f]Mary[/name_f] by itself, but there is something so beautiful and angelic about [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] that I’m gravitated towards.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]? Should I drop the [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and just stick with [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? [name_m]Can[/name_m] you picture it on a baby/child/teenager?

I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]! I think it’s a lot sweeter and more interesting than [name_f]Rose[/name_f], though both are beautiful names. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is really underused but it will definitely become more popular again soon in my opinion! You may also like [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]! I know a [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] who is in her late thirties, so it doesn’t seem that “old” to me (her nickname is [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], by the way). I think it has a lovely sound and I like the herbal meaning. Personally, I prefer it to [name_f]Rose[/name_f], though [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a beautiful name too.

The first friend I made in high school was [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. She was friendly, pretty and lively. So I don’t think of an old lady but her and the name is quite youthful to me. I’ll say go for it.

Rosemary is gorgeous.

I’m meh on [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but the combination!

I also love [name_f]Maryellen[/name_f] and [name_f]Suellen[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]! It’s a great name, and yes I can see it as a teenagers name. Like some teens they may think it’s old fashioned at that age but that’s what nicknames are for!

I like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] much better than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f]! To me it sounds beachy and natural. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]!

Sorry to be negative but I do prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f], or one of the many other names in the [name_f]Rose[/name_f] family, like [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f].
I have actually heard people make ‘jokes’ saying ‘if her name is [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], are her siblings [name_u]Basil[/name_u] and [name_u]Sage[/name_u].’ :unamused:Not funny I know, just puts me off the name.

Rosemary isn’t exactly my style, but it’s pretty, and I like it. You could go either way, but I prefer [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] to [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - it feels a little more wild moors and midnight tea which I adore. I know two teenage girls named [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], and they both wear it well

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is one of my absolute favorite names. It just feels so genuine somehow, it’s earthy and organic, feminine and easy to pronounce. It has wonderful nickname possibilities, like the easy [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f], soft [name_f]Rosey[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], and spunky [name_f]Ro[/name_f]. I do think of the herb, not really as the food per se, but the little herb garden we had from my sunny childhood days. I love it’s fragrance. I think it helps that the song Scarborough Fair has meaning to me, too, and the ‘symbolism’ of the herb, like remembrance, fidelity, and love. It feels simultaneously of gentleness and natural strength, and I can picture it on any age. I really love the name [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]

I love that [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] isn’t a double barrel name, but actually means dew of the sea. It puts it in a very unique category. Like @KJGlitter I also think of the song Scarborough Fair which is a very positive association for me.

Rosemary is a great name! It can have the cute nickname [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] for a kid if they want. It also makes me think of the character in The Giver. All around a good name (which I’ve also grown to like quite a lot recently)
