Thoughts on Seamus

Anything and everything that comes to mind please…and GO!

The first thing that comes to mind is the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] character. (The first and only time I have ever heard this name, besides in NB.)
The pronunciation is kind of strange to me, because just learned a few months ago that it’s [name_u]SHAY[/name_u]-mus, not SEE-mus. (I tend to just assume that most things are spelled phonetically.)
Now that I know the correct pronunciation, it kind of sounds to me like “shame us”.

My first thought was Heaney - I love his poetry, so that’s a really good connection for me  Then the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] character  It’s a name I can never decide whether I like or not - some days I think it’s lovely and flows really well, and other days all I can hear is Shame us as the previous poster said. Overall, I think I’d like it if I met someone with the name, but probably wouldn’t use it myself.

I have a hard time not hearing “shame us” too.

I like it but it but it always makes me think of [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] which I love much more. [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] nn [name_u]Shea[/name_u]/[name_u]Shay[/name_u] (not sure how you’d spell it given that Sea doesn’t really work) but be good though.

I’m not a fan because of the “Shame” sound.
