Been loving the Scottish names, especially the “loch” sound. I’m also a sucker for a classic literary reference or anything historic, but appreciate unique names. Thoughts on Sherloch?
[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to Nameberry (NB), @dwood.
I love [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m], but I don’t know if I could get used to it spelled Sherloch. [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] is rare enough as it is that changing the spelling to make it more rare isn’t necessary imo.
I think because [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] is so well known, Sherloch might look a little off to most people. However, I think Sherlock’s great in any iteration, so it’s still a cool choice!
I agree with the previous users that it’d get misspelled as Sherlock very often. I think as a first name it’s a lot to live up to, but it could make for an interesting middle name! Lochlan and Lochner are some other options that are a bit easier to wear.
Sherloch is cool! I do think it would be mispelled as [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] a lot but I do like it
Sounds perfect for you! I think it might actually be a better name than [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m], though as others have mentioned it may be misspelled often. I don’t think it would get mispronounced much though. Cool idea!
it just looks like a misspelling of sherlock to me, and since the name has no history and isn’t a legitimate scottish name, then it feels a little off to me.
also in most countries you would have major spelling/pronunciation issues
