I thought of the movie too. It’s probably one of the most famous Russian movies around and is considered a science fiction classic. (I enjoyed the movie, so I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad association.)
I think it’s an interesting name, and I like the sound of [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] Bloem. I would also suggest [name_f]Solara[/name_f].
Are you [name_m]Dutch[/name_m]? That spelling of [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] looks very [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] to me.

A similar sound that I like very much is [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] (so-LAY), meaning sun, and maybe it would appeal to you?
I agree that [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] kinda sounds like a car, but I’ve met a few girls named [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] so I think it’s ok. Outside of that, I think it’s a nice name. I definitely prefer [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] Bloem
Solaris sounds like a solar energy company to me. Sorry! I like Sola or [name_f]Sula[/name_f] better.
I really love this name, but it helps that I know a wee [name_u]Solaris[/name_u]. He’s a boy and it suits him wonderfully.
I actually really like it, and I did enjoy the movie so it’s a positive association for me.
