I like it in theory, although it just doesn’t sound very name-like to me to be honest, it’s something about the -ing ending! I don’t think there are any serious concerns with it. I think the go-to nickname would be [name_f]Star[/name_f]! You could also do [name_m]Starry[/name_m], Starlie, [name_f]Starla[/name_f], [name_f]Lin[/name_f], [name_f]Linnie[/name_f].

[name_f]Starling[/name_f] is fun and sparky - similar vibes to [name_f]Dove[/name_f], [name_f]Wren[/name_f], and [name_f]Lark[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] concern is that it sounds a bit like [name_m]Stalin[/name_m] but I don’t know if that’s just me.

Nicknames that come to mind: [name_f]Star[/name_f], [name_m]Starry[/name_m], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]

I think it’s pretty! I do agree that [name_f]Starla[/name_f] sounds more name-like. I think some people may mishear it as [name_m]Sterling[/name_m] since that’s a more common name. I don’t see any reason why you couldnt use it though! Lots of adorable nicknames too!

Starlings are invasive birds where I live, very negative association, sorry. Sounds lovely though.

Big fan of most bird names, so I do love [name_f]Starling[/name_f]! I like [name_m]Sparrow[/name_m] a bit more but [name_f]Starling[/name_f] is so lovely! It is similar in sound to [name_m]Sterling[/name_m] or Star/Starla so feels very namey to me. I personally prefer it as a middle but I think it’s a fun name and would love to meet a [name_f]Starling[/name_f]!

I think Starlie or [name_m]Ari[/name_m] would be my favorite nickname, but [name_f]Star[/name_f], Starrie, or [name_f]Linnie[/name_f] would be fun too. [name_m]Ara[/name_m] would also be cool, I think it’s more obvious for something like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Araceli[/name_f] or [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], but I like it for [name_f]Starling[/name_f] too. You could maybe do a combo nickname like [name_f]Starla[/name_f] for [name_f]Starling[/name_f] [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] or something like [name_f]Essie[/name_f] for [name_f]Starling[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]?

Good luck!

I’m a big fan of [name_f]Starling[/name_f], it’s definitely bold, but it’s also beautiful and sparkling and cool. I think it’s a name you could almost use as a nickname for any name. “She’s a little star, our little Starling” but I love the idea of meeting a child who’s actually named [name_f]Starling[/name_f] as well.

For nicknames, [name_f]Star[/name_f] is the obvious one, but I could also see [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] or Ari/Arly/Arlo. And depending on the middle name you could open up a lot more, ie [name_f]Starling[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f] called [name_f]Stella[/name_f] or [name_f]Starling[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] called [name_f]Stasie[/name_f].

starling is absolutely lovely !! it’s a bit stretchy, but i would probably call a little starling stell as a nickname (star → stella/stellar → stell). my only worry would be it’s soundalike to ‘darling’ - i think it might be tricky to have a name so close to a common term of endearment.

[name_f]Starling[/name_f] is beautiful, lively, melodic and colorful. I love the birds association. It always makes me think about the sky and the stars. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite nickname is [name_f]Star[/name_f].
