Thoughts on Sunny?

I absolutely love the name [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], and my partner likes it too, we’re just both slightly worried that it’s more suited to when she’s younger and we’re not too sure how she would feel as an adult with the name [name_f]Sunny[/name_f].

If anyone has any thoughts on it, or knows an adult [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] we’d really love some feedback!

It’s so cute, but I do think it might be hard to wear at times. Being a teen or adult [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] in a bad mood might feel a bit frustrating! Personally, I’d go with a name that could lend itself to [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] as a nickname, even if you’re going to use [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] most of the time, just so there’s that other option if she wants it later on :sun_with_face:

I have an Aunt [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], well into her 60’s! Her real name is Sonda and I gave her the nickname [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] as a child when I couldn’t say her real name, but she’s worn the nickname ever since then! A lot of people in her life call her [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], and she’s always worn it well!

If you’re afraid of going with just [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], maybe you could consider a name that gives the nn [name_f]Sunny[/name_f]. Personally though, I think she could easily be just [name_f]Sunny[/name_f], even on a grumpy day. Our moods are not dependent on our names! If you both love it, go for it!

I think [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] would work well, no matter the age! If you’re really uncertain, a few full names for [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] could be [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Solana[/name_f], [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], or anything ending in -son.

I love sunny :sunny:[name_f][/name_f] very bright and cheery.

I had a classmate called [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] when I was young, and it never seemed odd! Granted, I didn’t know her as an adult, but [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] seems more nature-y to me than saccharine? Kind of like how I wouldn’t expect a [name_f]Rain[/name_f] to be pessimistic, I wouldn’t expect a certain personality type or age from a [name_f]Sunny[/name_f]. I do sort of see how people could find it infantilizing, but personally I don’t see it that way at all! It feels just as usable as something like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f], just a little more unusual.

[name_f][/name_f]

In fact, I honestly have a harder time imagining a [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] as a child than an adult. But I am also of the opinion that nearly all names grow up with their bearers – including this one!

i know a sunny in her 40’s, and she wears it so well. you could also name her sunday, soleil, solveig, etc. and call her “sunny” :sun_with_face:

[name_f][/name_f]

i say go for it. i think it is beautiful! :white_heart:

[name_f]Sunny[/name_f] always brings to mind [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] [name_m]Baudelaire[/name_m] from “A Series of Unfortunate Events” who was a baby/toddler throughout the series, so it does seem very youthful to me!
[name_f][/name_f]However, I don’t think it’s too[name_f][/name_f] cutesy for an adult. I do like it better as a nickname for [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] or [name_f]Soleil[/name_f]!

I like [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] myself, but I see no reason why you couldn’t just use [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] if that is your preference. It’s no different than using other names, like [name_f]Joy[/name_f], a name I love but I certainly wouldn’t expect her to feel joyous all of the time. People use names like [name_f]Honey[/name_f], [name_m]Storm[/name_m], [name_f]Raine[/name_f] and so on, so I think [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] is a perfectly legitimate name in it’s own right.

I love [name_f]Sunny[/name_f]! I grew up with a girl names [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] and it worked well for her. For me personally though I think I would use it as a nickname for [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- sweet and bright but name-like too. I feel like if [name_m]Sonny[/name_m], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] work, [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] can grow with someone too. It’s a top 500 choice in the US, while in the UK, it ranks for boys and is just outside the top 1000 for girls [name_f][/name_f]- so it is definitely being used

I love [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] for a girl, and I think it stands alone and works for all ages!

Sunny is bright, joyful, and beautiful. I absolutely adore it! I also think it ages well. With so many parents embracing nickname-names and nature-inspired choices, Sunny feels like a contemporary choice. I can easily picture a Sunny at any stage of life.

I really love [name_f]Sunny[/name_f]. It’s on my very short list of favorite names :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:[name_f][/name_f]. I think it’ll age perfectly fine!

i’ve never met a sunny, but i’ve met a sutton ‘sunny’ which i always thought was pretty. my favourite name in the world is sunday which lends itself perfectly to the nickname sunny. :sunny:

[name_f][/name_f]

i personally wouldn’t use it as a first name, but that’s more because i’m often in a bit of a bad mood at the moment and being called sunny might make me loose my mind. but i do think it’s pretty and wouldn’t deem it odd where i to meet one. :sunflower:
