Thoughts on Sydney?

Recently came across a girl called [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] ([name_u]Syd[/name_u] as nn) and I’m just totally crushing on this name. Is it cool on a girl? Any middle name ideas? I have [name_f]Joy[/name_f] as a middle name for other names I like but is [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] too much?

I’m in high school so I know about a million Sydneys, Sydnees, Cidneys, etc. its ok just kinda overdone to me.

College student, but same for me. My roommate is [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]! It’s probably one of the most common names in my area at home for girls between the ages of 8 and 20 (I go to school out of state). I don’t dislike the name but it is a bit overdone.

I like [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] but agree it feels very 90s. I associate it with a cool, athletic type of girl.

I’ve met 2 [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]'s…one in my high school (same grade as me), and the other as my coworker. Both are young adults.

[name_u]Sydney[/name_u] is a really nice name, imo. It’s actually one in particular that I like both for boys and girls… I especially like unisex names on girls though.

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just not my style at all and it does sound rather dated now on a girl. Very 90s.

I’d love to hear it on a boy, however. [name_m]Sid[/name_m] on a boy is adorable.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] to add I am living in the UK and I’ve never met anyone called [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] before now. So it’s not as well known around where I live.

Same. I can think of a couple Sydneys off-hand (I worked with one nn Sidd until a while ago; I don’t know why she spelled her nn that way lol). It’s an okay name, but I definitely wouldn’t say it’s my favorite. [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] seems timeless enough among the popular names that I can see it still being used for little ones today, though, and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is really cute.

[name_u]Sydney[/name_u], where I live, is extremely common amongst girls of my generation (ages 15-25 or so). Because of that, it’s lost its luster for me, but I still think [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] is a perfectly nice name and I like the place connection. I do like the combo [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], though.
