Thoughts on the name Colson / Kolson for a girl?

I know the name [name_m]Colson[/name_m] has become a bit popular as a boys name. What are your thoughts on using it for a girl? I like traditionally male names for girls but am unsure if this would be pushing it. Also which spelling do you like better for a girl?

Thanks!

I like [name_m]Colson[/name_m] better regardless of gender. I’m not sure how I feel about it as a name for girls… I tend to stray from “boys names” on girls, but when it comes to surnames, I’m somewhat more open-minded, since either a boy or a girl could have the name as a last name. It’s still not something I love, but I don’t object strongly.

I also prefer [name_m]Colson[/name_m].

The -son ending makes me very nervous. This name’s only meaning is “son of [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]”. I can easily picture a lot of mean teasing by naming a daughter “son of [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]”

What about [name_m]Colter[/name_m]? Still has masculine energy but not specifically male meaning.

Colson is a bit rough for my tastes but it works

Colson sounds very masculine to me.

I don’t have a problem with unisex names, but this sounds too masculine for a girl.
