Thoughts on the name Eero

If we have another boy, I’m kind of loving the name [name_m]Eero[/name_m] (pronounced “arrow”). It’s the Finnish version of [name_m]Erik[/name_m] (my husband’s name) and we have a Scandinavian last name (my husband is of Scandinavian descent). Our son is named [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (which is also Nordic (and Irish)).

[name_u]Finn[/name_u] & [name_m]Eero[/name_m]… I kind of love this.

I feel like it’s one of those names that no one will pronounce or spell it correctly the first time but once you tell them how to say it/spell it, it would be very easy. Am I right? Is [name_m]Eero[/name_m] awesome? Or would we be dooming the poor kid?

I like the sound, but if you live in an English speaking country, I think it’s setting your son up for a lifetime of having to correct the spelling/pronunciation. I’d say it more like “hero” without knowing how to say it. I’m not saying I think it’s a bad idea, but definitely consider how it would feel to have to constantly correct people.
