I came across this name and I think it’s really cute, but I would like to see what others think of it.
A lot of people on here are going to recommend using a longer name and using [name]Elsie[/name] as a nickname, but I believe [name]Elsie[/name] has a history as a name on it’s own. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Elsie[/name], and have wondered why more people don’t talk about it.
I love [name]Elsie[/name], I think it is so cute! I’m not sure if I’d use it as a full name or not. I always worry about nicknamey names. But I’d def use something longer and then [name]Elsie[/name] as nickname. [name]Elsa[/name] is actually one of my faves right now too.
[name]Elsie[/name] is cute - a little too cute for my taste! I much prefer [name]Elsa[/name] or [name]Elspeth[/name] with the nn [name]Elsie[/name] so a girl has the option of reverting back to the full name when she matures.
So cute, but I prefer it as a nn ([name]Elisabeth[/name], [name]Elspeth[/name], [name]Elysia[/name], any [name]El[/name]- names, you name it…)
My first thought is “cow”. [name]Elsie[/name] is the [name]Borden[/name]'s milk mascot so be aware of that for potential teasing
I think [name]Elsie[/name] is cute for a young girl, maybe as a nn for [name]Eloise[/name].
I love the name [name]Eloise[/name] too!
My great grandmother’s name was [name]Elsie[/name], I wish I would have gotten to know her better. I think it’s cute, but I also prefer it as a nickname. [name]Eloise[/name] is great.
I like [name]Elsie[/name]. My husband’s grandmother’s name was [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Lorraine[/name].
I love [name]Elsie[/name]. My first daughter [name]Josephine[/name] is [name]Josie[/name], and when baby #2 [name]Eliza[/name] came along, I figured she’d end up [name]Elsie[/name]. (It is a great nn for so many names! [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Elise[/name], [name]Elsa[/name], [name]Elspeth[/name]…) But she became [name]Lizzy[/name] somehow instead, which is hilarious because [name]Liz[/name] is my absolute least favorite of all the myriad [name]Elizabeth[/name] nns. So my digression aside, I love [name]Elsie[/name], though I do think it is better as a nn so a baby girl’s name has the option to grow up with her.
[name]Elsie[/name] is in my final 3 and I only have a month left to decide. I’ve always loved it as a name, but I like short nicknamey names. The only thing holding me back is that I’m not sure if it will go with her sisters name - [name]Eden[/name], maybe too many Es. You could make it [name]Elsie[/name]-[name]May[/name] or [name]Elsie[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] to make it sound less nicknamey if your worried about that, but I don’t think it matters.
[name]Elsie[/name] is currently very trendy in the UK and shooting up the rankings because of the old fashioned names trend. I can see why it is loved in the UK because of the ‘ie’ ending and it’s a nickname ([name]Daisy[/name], [name]Maggie[/name], [name]Molly[/name] etc).
I prefer [name]Elsa[/name] because it seems more complete and isn’t a nickname.
I do like [name]Elspeth[/name] nn [name]Elsie[/name]!
I like it!
cute, but not my style. too nicknamey…
what about [name]Elsa[/name]? or [name]Rosie[/name], or [name]Maisie[/name].
I prefer [name]Elsa[/name] but it is still quite cute.
Personally? I despise it.
Sorry, but I absolutely can’t stand it.
And that’s coming from a person who likes [name]Elspeth[/name]/[name]Elizabeth[/name] etc. [name]Ellie[/name]/[name]Elle[/name] I could deal with as nicknames, but never [name]Elsie[/name].
