Thoughts on the Name Hyacinth?

I have recently heard this name from the TV show: Bridgerton

What are your thoughts on the name? Like. [name_u]Love[/name_u]. Hate. Neutral

Do you think that it is too hard to pronounce and spell?

Strong dislike.
Like naming a kid [name_f]Carnation[/name_f].

I’m neutral on it. I think it’s cool and it feels like a “real name” to me. But, I think it’s a bit heavy/awkward for a first name, especially because it doesn’t have any clear nickname options other than maybe [name_f]Cindy[/name_f]? I think it would make a great middle name, though.

It has always felt very cold to me, so I’m not the biggest fan. I love the flowers, though.

I really like it  I love the more unusual flower names. This one is definitely unusual but I think there’s something magical about it.

I don’t dislike it, but I’d say I’m pretty neutral on it. I definitely do think it’s usable, though. I think it’ll probably get a few funky spellings over the years lol, but generally on the easier side I’d say.

My first association is the book Wives & Daughters – [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] is the name of the heroine’s stepmother*. I suppose I’m just neutral about it. It has a pretty sound, but it’s a little out-there for my taste. I like it for other people, though.

I might add the the general opinion of the book’s other characters is that it is a silly name. :woman_shrugging:t3:

I like it, but I prefer [name_f]Hyacintha[/name_f].

I like it, but wouldn’t ever use it. I think if someone’s looking for an uncommon flower name, it’s usable.

I like it for the flower but not so much for a person.

I honestly don’t mind the way it sounds, but I can’t get passed the [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] Bucket connection… :woman_shrugging::laughing:

I think it would be best in the middle spot especially as it feels too long and cumbersome for day-to-day use.

I don’t mind it

I love it, especially for a middle name! It could definitely work as a first name, too, though.

Same, I like it in theory but that’s what I first think of too! Although I guess it’ll be an obscure reference for future generations (maybe already is? Idk) so it’s probably usable if you love it.

I really like it! I wouldn’t name a child [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] but I love the name.

Its ok. Makes me think of [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f], which makes me think of [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f], which makes me think of [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u]…

Unfortunately my first association is of [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] bucket (boo-[name_u]Kay[/name_u]) from keeping up appearances so it is forever ruined for me
