Hello, I am having twins (a boy and a girl) and can’t decide on a name for my baby girl coming due in a few months and I was hoping to get some opinions on one that I keep coming back to.
I really like Malayne. Pronounced Ma-lay-knee. I’ve decided on either [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] or [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] as her middle name. So Malayne [name_m]Lemon[/name_m] or Malayne [name_f]Harlow[/name_f].
My second choice is [name_f]Harlow[/name_f]. If I go with [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] as her first name I really like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] as a middle. So [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].
I can’t decide. Thoughts?
Luckily we’ve already decided on the name for our son …[name_m]Pike[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. We loved that the second we put it together.
I agree that I’d pronounce it muh-[name_u]LANE[/name_u]. I think you need to spell it a bit differently unless you are okay with correcting people all the time as well as putting that on your daughter. Also [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is a lot like [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and she’s a well known villain so I’m not sure I’d use that if I were you. I’m sorry to say it but a pike is a fish and pairing it with [name_u]Finn[/name_u] seems a little odd to me too. I’m really not sure if you are serious because these names don’t seem to be.
Cyoung325, I’m very serious. I’ve always liked [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] and my grandmother’s name is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I’m not naming her [name_u]Harley[/name_u] for that reason alone. My son will be named after my father, [name_m]Pike[/name_m]. Thanks for the douchebag comment, though.
Wow, I think you’re the only one being rude here. I was just stating what I thought which is why you posted this, no? If you are hurt by what I said you must already realize that they are not very realistic combos. All the names separately are perfectly fine though.
Cyoung325, I assure you that I’m not ‘hurt’ in the slightest. What I am most certainly is turned off by you implying that I’m not serious about my childrens names. What’s the point in starting a forum on a reputable baby name website other than to get thoughtful and kind opinions if I just get someone like you who takes it upon herself to imply that I am not serious about the names of my children? Really? What an odd thing to say to someone. Check yourself.
Grackym, I truly love your suggestion and I agree with you. I tried to take a stab at a different spelling of it, but I get the possible confusion with pronunciation if I stick with it. Thank you!
I definitely thought it was “muh-lane” because I am so used to pronouncing [name_u]Layne[/name_u] that way. Would you want to spell it a different way? Like Mulaney? But as I always say, if you love it, go for it!
Another spelling variation might work–I would pronounce it Ma-lane unless otherwise corrected. Also, [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] sounds like Harlequin (romance novels). If you’re set on both names, I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] is nice.
I like the sound of Malayne, but I agree that the spelling is a bit misleading. Perhaps [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] would work better? [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] does remind me instantly of the villain. Some alternatives might be [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], Halo [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] or [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I’d also like to suggest [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Lainey[/name_f], [name_u]Delany[/name_u] and [name_u]Laine[/name_u] ([name_f]Lainey[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] would be pretty adorable)
Dreamingoffireflies, [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is wonderful. I like those pairings the best. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions! [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] it is!
