[name_u]Honest[/name_u] feedback wanted on the name [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] for our baby boy. Last name starts with R but kinda rhymes with Fossil.
Dorky disclosure, we’re huge [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] fans over here… my husband suggested [name_u]Van[/name_u], but despite how uncommon that is, I actually have a friend who used [name_u]Van[/name_u] for her son and I don’t love the idea of “stealing” it, even if she’s not a super close friend. Also, my great grandfathers — both of them — were named [name_m]Morris[/name_m].
Could this work as a first name? Teasing potential? Nicknames? [name_m]Morrie[/name_m]? Mojo? [name_m]Moose[/name_m]? Haha
I like it! A unique and yet familiar sounding choice.
Nickname [name_m]Mori[/name_m] is cute, as is [name_u]Sonny[/name_u].
I don’t see any teasing potential in this name, it shares a lot of traits with more popular names like [name_u]Grayson[/name_u] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], so it should be a safe choice.
I think it totally works, and it’s cool. If your last name is what I think it is (also used frequently enough as a first name?) there might be some confusion sometimes as to whether it’s R____ [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] instead of [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] R____. But every name has a “thing”.
The fact that you have family with the name [name_m]Morris[/name_m] is just the icing on the cake. I love honor names.
[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is great! It’s cool and feels almost classic despite not being common at all. I think it’s a great way to honor a musician you like and your great-grandfathers being called [name_m]Morris[/name_m] is an added bonus.
I think [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] totally works as a first name. I can’t think of any teasing potential. [name_m]Morrie[/name_m] or [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] would be my favorite nicknames, though [name_m]Moose[/name_m] is adorable too.
Honestly surname names are so popular I really do not see how [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] cannot work. I think personally for me I wouldn’t use as there’s a massive supermarket chain in the UK called Morrisons and I live a 5 minute drive away from one. However that aside I do not see how [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] cannot work I think this name has similar vibes to [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] which is a rather popular choice. Also I would angle for [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as a nickname just to give [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] a cooler edge
There’s a [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] in one of the other classes at my preschool! He wears it very well and in class will occasionally be nicknamed [name_m]Morrie[/name_m] or Morse, but mostly the full name
[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is pretty cool -it has similar sounds to the popular [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] so I don’t think it’s too out there and it’s nice that it’s an honour.
I don’t think I could use it here in the UK with the supermakert chain but that might not be an issue for you
[name_m]Moss[/name_m] or [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] could be nn?
as an australian i can’t see morrison on a baby due to our very unpopular prime minister scott morrison (i absolutely hate him) but if you aren’t australian i can see morrison on a baby it’s a very unique name
[name_m]Morrison[/name_m] isn’t my personal style, but it’s not bad. It’s familiar without being common/popular. Everyone will know how to spell and pronounce it. I can’t really see why teasing would be an issue, unless there is some cultural context that I’m unaware of. (I’m aware of the supermarket chain in the UK named Morrison’s but at the same time I don’t think it’s a hugely troublesome association.)
Have you considered [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]? It’s [name_u]Van[/name_u] Morrison’s full name, I believe.
I think [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is a fresh idea! I also love the reference to [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] (I listen to his music a lot with my dad). [name_m]Moose[/name_m] and Mojo are adorable nicknames. Also I think it’s a sweet nod to your great-grandfathers.
I think [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] would be a really nice choice and bonus that it is an honour name in your family. I like [name_m]Morrie[/name_m] as a nickname but wouldn’t choose [name_m]Moose[/name_m] as it just wouldn’t suit everyone in a complimentary way.
Oh I love this! I think [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] definitely works and the reasoning behind it makes it even better. [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] and your grandfathers, it doesn’t get better!
I don’t know of any Morrison’s but other!
For nicknames, I actually think [name_m]Moose[/name_m] is cute and [name_m]Morrie[/name_m] would work too! [name_u]Or[/name_u] I like the [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] suggestion!
Oh my gosh !! [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] is just the most darling name! I absolutely love it for you! Especially because of the great grandfather connection
I love the nickname potential too !
