Thoughts on the name Nicholas?

I’ve always loved this name but I feel like it’s so popular. [name]Even[/name] if I don’t use it as a first I will most likely use it as a middle name. But I would love to use it as a first, what do you think? I already have a [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Noelle[/name].

For me , it would be pretty refreshing to hear it in the fn spot… [name]Charlotte[/name] & [name]Nicholas[/name] sound excellent!

I love it, really do. I love the nickname [name]Nicky[/name] while he’s young, and [name]Nick[/name] for when he’s older, or even [name]Cole[/name].

[name]Nicholas[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are [name]LOVELY[/name] together, love it!

Great name. It’s just that it hit the Top Ten a few years back. Interestingly, I know a million young Jacobs, Jacks, Jameses, [name]Williams[/name], and Joshuas, but nary a [name]Nick[/name]. Maybe it’s a regional thing.

My cousin’s name is [name]Nicolas[/name] (spelled this way), and he goes by [name]Nico[/name]. He’s 15 and when I told him that his name is really popular now in certain places, he was surprised. He’s the only [name]Nicolas[/name]/[name]Nicholas[/name]/[name]Nico[/name] we know.

I love [name]Nicholas[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name].

I agree, this is a name I know to have been popular but I don’t know tons of them…I went to elementary school with one in the South, he’d be about 30 now. I knew 2, both about 15, on the [name]East[/name] coast, recently, so that speaks a tad more to a bubble, but really, it’s no more than most other name in the top 500.

I also would find it very refreshing…and I love the subtle tie in to [name]Charlotte[/name]'s middle name [name]Noelle[/name]. [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Nicolas[/name] definitely sound great together! And [name]Nick[/name], [name]Nico[/name], and [name]Cole[/name] are great nn options. I hope you use it if you love it enough!

I like the name [name]Nicholas[/name]. I know one, he is maybe 2nd grade? I also knew a [name]Nick[/name] in college, not sure if his full name was [name]Nicholas[/name] or not though. [name]Ive[/name] considered it for a middle name but I think it makes a great first.

I love the name [name]Nicholas[/name]! I’m not one to be deterred by popularity at all…but just to give you my experience…I’m a teacher and I’ve had tons of them in the last few years. I actually have 3 in one class right now.

I really like [name]Nicholas[/name]. [name]Even[/name] with it’s popularity I think it’s got some great nn options that it’s popularity wouldn’t bother me, just the ones listed in pp:
[name]Nick[/name]
[name]Nicki[/name]/[name]Nicky[/name]
[name]Nico[/name]
[name]Cole[/name]

[name]Nicholas[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are great together.

Too common for my taste, but it’s a strong, classic name. It’s one of those names that, although it’s so popular, I still think it’s a good name. I have only known good Nicholases, so that probably helps.

My son is almost 15 and he has four friends named [name]Nicholas[/name]-one [name]Nico[/name], two Nicks, and one who uses [name]Nic[/name] and his full name.

It’s funny how these things work out…I think it’s fairly unpredictable whether a child knows peers who share his name. I know a 10 year old girl named [name]Elena[/name]. Her name was something like #220 when she was born–and there are 2 other Elenas in her class.

[name]Nicholas[/name] is lovely. I not so secretly love the sort of hidden [name]Christmas[/name] connection between [name]Noelle[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name]. I would put [name]Nicholas[/name] up front, but I’m not crazy about [name]Nick[/name] or [name]Nico[/name], which I’m afraid he’d only get [name]Nick[/name]. I much prefer [name]Nicholas[/name] nn [name]Cole[/name].

I think [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name] is fabulous, though, I would love to meet such well-named siblings.

[name]Nicholas[/name] is our likely pick for our little boy, so I like it. It’s really not THAT popular. Sometimes I think these forums give a distorted view of what is popular. It was in the top 10 several years ago, but popular names nowadays are nothing like the Johns and [name]Marys[/name] of 100 years ago. Far fewer children are given top 10 names now than they were 50 years ago.

But anyway, popularity isn’t much of a deterrent for me when it comes to a classic name, but that’s my personal preference. I think [name]Nicholas[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are lovely together.

I think we will end up having [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name] (nn [name]Nico[/name]). Good luck to you!
