I know that many people strongly dislike this name, and at first I did as well. I keep hearing the name and honestly, it has really grown on me. I don’t think I would ever use it, it’s maybe a little too out there but I do think its an interesting name. Thoughts?
Novalee isn’t a name I’ve given much thought to before now but I actually really like the way it sounds. I’m a big fan of the ‘ee/ie’ endings.
I’m assuming some people don’t like it because it’s made up of two names smooshed together? Please correct me if I’m wrong! Generally I try not to get too attached to invented names but if I like it enough, I can certainly be persuaded! Novalee is very sweet but I think [name_f]Nova[/name_f] on it’s own might be more to my taste and it still has the cute quirkiness.
Novalee looks made up to me so honestly I don’t like it (though I do like the sound.) However, I would consider [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] with [name_u]Lee[/name_u] as a middle, I think that’s much nicer/less possiblity to be perceived as tacky.
I prefer [name_f]Nova[/name_f] on it’s own. Novalee looks like it could be pronounced NO-vah-lee or NAH-vah-lee.
I definitely don’t hate it, it’s just not something I would ever choose for my own child. I quite like [name_f]Nova[/name_f], I think Novalee could make a cute full name but it’s not really necessary. Also I’ve just never been a fan of ‘ee’ endings, so [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] would be how I would spell it if I were going to use it.
I agree with @primbutcher that it has several possible pronunciations. I switch between saying nov-[name_m]AL[/name_m]-ee (like the start of Novel and then [name_u]Allie[/name_u]) and NO-valley. That bothers me a little, but it’s not the end of the world.
