Riata is interesting. It’s similar to [name_f]Rita[/name_f], the Japanese Rioto and the Latvian [name_f]Rieta[/name_f] (inspired by the word riets meaning “sunset”). I don’t love the meaning in [name_f]English[/name_f], but I think it is usable.
I live in a country where [name_f]Maria[/name_f] is extremely overused. Last year, 1 in 10 baby girls received the first name [name_f]Maria[/name_f]. Over the years, I’ve met dozens of sets of siblings in which everyone has [name_f]Maria[/name_f] as first or middle names, including boys. I can see its qualities, but I’m quite tired of it. I also think [name_f]Maria[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] would be confused sometimes with [name_f]Marianna[/name_f] or [name_f]Marianne[/name_f].
Honestly, I think [name_f]Ria[/name_f] would be amazing on its own! It means “estuary” in Spanish and Portuguese.
