Thoughts on the name Rosella

It’s a variety of the name Rose but I haven’t seen it on nameberry. What are you thoughts on the name Rosella?

I like it! It’s very pretty. I like [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f] even more though.

My favorite “rose” name ever! I have been loving it since I was 11 and a half years old.

I think it’s really pretty and underrated! I like the potential nickname [name_f]Zella[/name_f]

It reminds me of rubella, measles. Sorry. Might just be me. I love a lot of other rose- names.

Me too, actually! This, and rosacea, a skin condition.

It has a pretty sound, but unfortunately I can’t shake the association. A family friend considered this for their daughter but decided against it due to the association – they ultimately chose Ella-Rose, hyphenated.

I am not wild about [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f] separately, but somehow put together like that, it’s a lovely name!

Same, actually! Not usually a fan of hyphenated names either, but this one works.

I like it, fun to say, and there’s the pretty bird Rosellas :parrot:

Absolutely love [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] such a gorgeous name :rose:

It’s really pretty, but it’s strongly associated with a type of bird for me. It’s not a bad connection though, I love birds.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first association is the character in [name_f]Barbie[/name_f] as the [name_u]Island[/name_u] [name_f]Princess[/name_f], which is a lovely (if a little juvenile) association! She’s a good character and I loved that movie as a little girl.

[name_f]Rosella[/name_f] is actually one of my favourite [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- variants; it’s underrated yet will not have any wearability issues as mostly everyone will know how to spell and pronounce it. I love the nicknames [name_f]Ro[/name_f] and [name_f]Zella[/name_f], they add a unisex and vintage punch to an otherwise flowery name, which is so nice!

I don’t get the rosacea or rubella association personally! It reminds me of [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] which some say sounds like areola but I’ve never heard that either, or Violet=violent. To me it’s a non-issue! But that could just be me.

Overall I think it’s really pretty.

Barbie Island princess was my favourite movie when I was little so I really don’t mind the connection! It was where I first heard the name

This was actually one of the first names I really fell in love with as a kid! It probably spawned my obsession with [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names :joy:

To me it reminds me of the bird (which is beautiful) rather than the rose.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite rose name is still [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], but [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] with Zelle as a nickname is lovely
