Thoughts on the name Ruthie?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], all!

I really like the name [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] for a daughter (yes, [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], not [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]). However, I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this name, berries. would it be too ‘cutesy’ for an adult woman, or would it grow with her? it is definitely a nickname-y name and that’s normally not my style… so I guess I’m hesitant although I really like it for a little girl. Thoughts?

I’d say maybe [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] would age better than [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], and you could still get the nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]. However, if you really love [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], I think it could work.

I would make the legal name [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] exclusively. I’ve found [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is a bit tricky to pair with middles though so I dropped it from my list.

I really like [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] much more than [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. I don’t see any problem with it at any age. However I will caution you that I have an aunt who did not like her nickname sounding legal name and actually legally changed it to something else entirely as an adult. But of course this could always happen with any name! Of course her siblings still call her by her original name!

The [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] I know is a 53 year old woman and it works perfectly well on her (she’s a [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], but goes exclusively by [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]).

I actually love it

I love [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]! Its on my list too

Ruthie is cute but sophisticated

I like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], but I’d much, much rather be named [name_f]Ruth[/name_f].

I think considering nickname names are so popular [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] feels like a fresh alternative to all the [name_f]Evie[/name_f]’s & [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]’s I like it. I think she may be mistaken/asked whether she is actually [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] but I don’t see that being a major issue.

Ruthie is very cute. I like it, and it works. In the same way that people suggest [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], if she wants to be [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], she can still go by it.
