Hi All,
I’m about half way through my pregnancy with our second child, a girl due this summer. We’ve decided to name her Rydell Mary.
What are your thoughts on this name and do you think it pairs well with our sons name; Henry.
Any other suggestions are most welcomed,
Thanks
I feel like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_u]Henry[/name_u] pair up pretty well. So for me knowing if Rydell [name_f]Mary[/name_f] pairs with brother [name_u]Henry[/name_u] well would depend on what Henry’s name combo is.
ETA: I’m a little confused on the pronunciation- I’m initially thinking Rye-dell; but then I’m thinking it could also sound like “riddle”.
Rydel [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is the first/middle name of Rydel Funk (Lynch), with how uncommon the name is she would be my first thought anyway. I like that the name is unique, tailored, and plays off of some of the current trends (Ryder is popular for example). [name_u]Henry[/name_u] does feel much more classic/traditional but I know plenty of siblings where one has a much more popular name so I don’t think that that part is a huge concern

It would be pronounced as Rye-dell

[name_f]My[/name_f] very first thought would be the movie/musical Grease, as Im pretty sure thats the name of the high school.
Other than that it sounds like a good name. Maybe a little more modern sounding than [name_u]Henry[/name_u], but it gives me a southern surname name vibe and [name_u]Henry[/name_u] feels kind of southern as well so I think it works.

I like it! [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was Rydel Funk but of course since she’s not like A-list level celebrity I don’t think most people would think of her. The association with Grease is cool especially if you’re a fan of the movie. [name_u]Henry[/name_u] may be classic but since classic is trendy right now I think they both seem equally trendy, so they’re not as mismatched as they may seem. Plus it’s not uncommon for people to be more adventurous with their girl names than their boy names so I would never be surprised to meet siblings Rydell and [name_u]Henry[/name_u]. They have the same sort of “vibe” to me anyway regardless of popularity.

I agree and would typically suggest Mary Rydell (and using the double name!) BUT Rydell is cool and interesting and if you both love it, you should use it!

Rydell [name_f]Mary[/name_f] flows well, feels balanced and has a distinctive sound. Would I expect it as sister to [name_u]Henry[/name_u], possibly not, but then again, [name_u]Henry[/name_u] is a very versatile name, so I think it works well!!

I don’t think [name_u]Henry[/name_u] and Rydell go together at all—they’re totally stylistically different. They’re not cohesive, really, but I think that can be a lot of fun in a sibling set!
I also have pause, as the only Rydell I’ve ever heard of (Rydell Funk), also has the middle name [name_f]Mary[/name_f].

I think it’s sweet, with [name_u]Dell[/name_u] or [name_f]Della[/name_f] as a possible nn <3

Agreed, I babysit identical twins with the most mismatched set imaginable. At first it bugged me, but as they grow I’m so glad their parents did that because it helps give them separate identities, compared to more similar names. Or, like, it really instills that they’re individuals, not two halves of a pair.
Of course, Rydell wouldn’t be Henry’s twin, but still! I think it’s a really cool name.

I instantly thought of the high school in Grease. I like the name, but I’m not sure if I like it with [name_u]Henry[/name_u]. Style wise they seem/sound completely different to me: [name_u]Henry[/name_u] is classic and timeless and Rydell seems very modern to me.
Of course, if you love it totally go for it! [name_f]My[/name_f] opinion shouldn’t matter ^^
