[name_u]Baby[/name_u] arrived yesterday over 10 days earlier than expected. This name is top of our list. Matches the last name really well. Fear is he may sound too much like a character from game of thrones.
Your thoughts please
Yeah. It’s a bit [name_m]Aryan[/name_m] Nation!
I hate to say this because aesthetically I think it’s a cool name, but I don’t think it’s the best idea. Racial issues are at a peak right now in the world and [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] sounds very “White [name_m]Power[/name_m]” to me because of the anglo-saxons. Sorry
What about ~
[name_m]Jax[/name_m]
[name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]
[name_m]Daxon[/name_m]
[name_m]Dawson[/name_m]
[name_u]Paxton[/name_u]
[name_m]Maxen[/name_m]
Bexen
[name_m]Fox[/name_m]
I actually know someone with a son named [name_m]Saxon[/name_m], he’d be in his 20s now, so I see it as a perfectly usable name! It sounds like a cool, guy’s guy kind of name to me- brings to mind a stereotypical popular guy, but also thoughtful and caring.
I think it’s an awesome name - very handsome.
It’s also my brother in laws name (he’s 22), and it doesn’t get weird attention or comments. We call him [name_m]Sax[/name_m] for short.
I honestly think this is a rather ridiculous concern. If someone pulled up my son and said he was racist based on his name, then I think that person is the one with the issues. Like seriously - how oversensitive have we become?!
I am not having a go at your point @silversky, I just honestly think it’s awful that we have got to the point that we judge people based on such petty things. Should we stop calling girls [name_f]Ebony[/name_f] too??
Not a fan of [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] as a given name unless he’ll be raiding villages as an adult. However, I will say this in [name_m]Saxon[/name_m]'s defense: anyone who assumes that [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] is given with racist intentions is probably the one with the problem.
[name_m]Saxon[/name_m] isn’t my style, but it’s a nice name. I’ve never watched the show, so I can’t speak to that association
I will say that as a black American, it never crossed my mind to associate [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] with Anglo-[name_m]Saxon[/name_m]. Now if the character from the show adds to that association, that’s different.
I actually think of saxophone and sexton.
I think the assumption wold be that his parents are racist. So up to you if you want to take that on yourself.
I think it ‘sounds’ and looks fine.
