How do you Pronounce Synnove?
I have never heard of it until recently.
I’m probably wrong, as I often am in my intuitive pronunciation but I would say “sin-oh-vee” or “sin-ohv”. Sounds scientific. Reminds me of synapse
I’d say it sin-oh-vee but only because sin-ohv sounds worse. I don’t like either way.
Hmm… my first instinct was to pronounce it sin-oh-vay
Sin-oh-vee
I think it could grow on me
I only know it as Synnøve, in which case I’d pronounce it as See-neuf (like [name_u]French[/name_u]) - uh
I’d say sin-oh-vee
Agree with this
It looks very Scandinavian to me. I wouldn’t be sure how to pronounce it. If I saw it IRL, I would ask the person how they pronounce it, because it’s probably not what I would expect.
My instinct would be suhn-aw-vuh, pronouncing it in line with a lot of Scandinavian pronunciation conventions. I think it’s because the -ove ending reminds me of Tove (taw-vuh). I actually really like it, though I must confess, it makes me think of synapses.
If it’s actually spelt Synnøve, I would say it more like suhn-eu-vuh.
Like this:
id pronounce it SUHN-oh-vuh, similar to [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] on second thought
